you have a good point and the guy who posted the thing about his srt4 probably has it financed like most of us. I think for 10k in mods my oz could probably run with his srt4 and maybe even an evo depending on the driver. Even with the guys 10k in mods how many people do you know with an evo that intend to keep it stock. SO even if he did have 10k to put into his car when he pulls up to a lightly modded evo or sti at the light hell be lookin kinda dumb in a 30k neon that just got smoked as he put

could the neon pull those times on gravel? in snow? what about slalom times? lateral g's?

i also don't get that just because one car is better than another, that other car is "****". it's like if you compare a bmw m3, and an audi s4. say the audi has 10 more hp than the m3. is the m3 ****ful and not worth driving? why is everyone always concerned with having the ultimate fastest car ever?!? just be happy with what you got. if you race...enjoy the sport, even if you lose. i'd rather lose by 0.1 of a second every time, than win by 3 seconds every time. which scenario would be more fun? which one would push you further?

What about the ITR, Cooper S, etc...? FF isn't ideal but when done properly it can handle quite good.

YEa, they are ignorant, but let them have their fun. They are proud of their cars, and they want to talk them up. I personally like the SRT-4. Just remember though, talk is cheap, opinions are likes *******s, everyone has em, and the ultimate I told ya so is shown on the track. (Or street, ) What Im trying to say is we all know the EVO is an all-around superior car, so why try to prove it to them? Let them have their fun while you EVO 8 owners know you have much more capability in your cars.

Oh yea, FF not being able to handle? Thats crazy man, go watch a 91 Civic SI modded by Progress run through an autocross, youll change your mind.

Then I heard him downshift, So i downshift to third.. I HAD THE BEST DOWNSHIFT EVER!! so anyways I was neck and neck with him, once i hit 100, i started to pull, I was like 1 1/2 car length and still pulling before i let off at 135 mph.... I diddnt feel like going into 5th... !! hahahahaha.. Either my srt-4 is faster then the evo on the freeway, or he had a slow driver. some facts that can prove my winnings is... I have a bigger engine... bigger engine will always win the high end "most the time", and he is all wheel drive which will rob horsepower.

WOW is that redneck talk or WHAT

I predict the SRT will become the ultimate B*S'ers car.

It is a car for teenagers who want performance but can't afford it.

I can see them getting themselves killed by pulling up to people on the highway and trying to prove something.

If I encounter one I will certainly let them go....Hey, you da man...go on do yo thang....speed raca.....whateva. Just get away from my car!

See, its comments from you guys like those last two that really **** me off. Your not helping matters by making cracks like that, your just doing the same damn this as them. Enjoy the fact that a Neon is a capable performer, and that the SRT-4 is not built like a typical Neon. Just because they are being ignorant on their boards doesnt mean you have to display the same crap over here.

I like the SRT, It's more bang for the buck and it's about time Dodge pulled something out of their hat. But, had Mitsu rated the EVO's 4G63 at 215hp like the SRT was originally. I would have paid the extra money because of the all-wheel drive and suspension characteristics of the EVO. And this comes from a straight line racer. Does anyone remember the commercials introducing the Neon to Dodge's line-up: Hi!, I will never for get that. There is also a point we have not considered, the Neon is in the class of the compact car, Z24, Sunfire, Focus, not the EVO, so it does very well. Comparing the SRT to the EVO is like comparing the EVO to the Vette. More money, more horsepower, better handling. The EVO does pretty good against it, but again, different class, Sports sedan (?), Sports car. Pay the extra 10k to the dealer, get a warranty, pay the extra 10k to the after market vendors, get no warranty and no all- wheel drive. No matter what 2 cars, the "what if's" don't apply to factory camparisons.

the only thing that i would bash about the SRT is the look of it. if i was 16 again and wanted a car that i could afford and be proud of that would probably be my second choice. a lancer would be the first of course, seing the fact that i already own one. but if it's all you can afford, and you don't want to handle the power or paying the insurance of an evo, (by the way does anyone know how much it is for that kick a** car?), it's something that you can beat up on, and not be overly pissed when you break it.
my 2 cents

First off I almost hate to say this because I don't think comparing modded cars is right or fair BUT: If you are talking about 1/4 mile racing then I think that if you put 10 grand into a srt-4 it would easily own a lightly modded evo. They run the same trap speed stock so just giving a srt4 slicks would put it in the low 13s. There is a dragcar srt-4 that still uses the stock srt-4 block and runs 8's in the 1/4 mile. The srt-4 is no where near the car an evo is, but it does have about a 25% displacement advantage, weighs 300 lbs less, and looks like it will have a strong aftermarket following just like the evo.
