I think a SRT-4 finished in 8th place in the One Lap of America, and thats hard to do in any car.

I own an Evo 8, but if Dodge can come up with a car with the same performance and price of a SRT-4, but with Rear wheel drive, i'm there......

I think is totally funny how Lancer owners call the SRT-4 a piece of crap. My brother owns a Lancer OZ and its rediculously slow and the interior is subpar. The fact is that a stock SRT-4 will hold its own or beat a stock Evo VIII from a roll. From a stop, its a different story. Boost mods alone are putting these puppies in the mid 13s at 106+mph on stock tires. Thats enough to put an Evo VIII to sleep from a stop and from a roll. Impressive machines indeed. Congrats on the purchase .

The SRT-4 is a great car, no doubt...and i agree people should stop ripping on it. Dodge is domestic, and the SRT no doubt will have its domestic problems, but heck....stock is stock people...can your lancers win its stock? No? then stop ripping on the SRT....my heck people...too much pride....be open about OTHER cars.

I agree that they are impressive, but since when can a stock Evo not pull mid 13 second passes?

Well, considering it comes stock with a turbo, that doesn't mean much. Maybe if the Lancer came stock with a turbo that statement might mean something.

As far as sharing parts. It doesn't matter to me how many parts it shares with Mitsubishi, when you take it in for service, you still have to deal with the dumbasses at Dodge. Personally, each person is free to choose what they want, but I wouldn't get one. And I'm not gonna brag that my car is faster when it's not, but I also wouldn't compare a turboed car to a non. Kinda like comparing a V8 to a V6.

Just my opinion.

And I was replying to another member's post. We were talking about a turbocharged Lancer against the SRT-4. I think that I know the difference between a factory turbo car and a naturally aspirated one. The comment that I posted was between me and someone else and was a simple debate over two cars in particular. It wasn't about EVERY Lancer and EVERY SRT-4. The point I was trying to get across was that even if you spent as little as $50 on a MBC, you could probably shave around .25 seconds off your quarter mile passes, which would make the SRT-4 a very wise $20,000 purchase. And I know all about dodge and their customer service issues. I had to take my first 1990 GSX to a Dodge dealership to have maintenance done and they were clueless around 90% of the time. They even mentioned that I should get rid of the car because it was bound to crankwalk (crank walking was only a real concern on the 2nd Gen DSM's)........I asked them if they knew the difference between a 1st Gen DSM and a 2nd Gen DSM and they said........."Yeah, the 1G's have the pop up headlights." That was enough for me right there. After they ****ed up the factory recall work on my first DSM like 3 times, I lost hope in them and decided to start doing a lot of the work myself. That is when I really started learning about the car, too. So even if the service department is a bunch of rocks, it could still be an ok thing, because you will be reluctant to find out more info on your own and it will make you a little smarter and a little more capable of doing work to your car. It still kinda does suck that it is still under warranty and you can't get them do even notice a problem, but oh, well. That is one reason they actually have Evo Techs at the Mitsu dealerships. Most people say that they are clueless, but mine is very knowledgable on the car. I've even tried to bust him on a few different issues before and he has always caught it. Bottom line is you have to find a service department you can live with.

I realize you were comparing it to Boe's car. No harm intended to you especially, but it seems like everyone compares these to a normal lancer and it gets a little old. So if I came across as an *** to you, I'm sorry. It just gets on my nerves when someone says you should've bought this cause I got it and it's sooo much better than your car. It's not everyone's ambition to run 9's, and if it is, not every car they have has to do it. So anyway, didn't mean to **** you off.

Nah, it's fine. I get your point, and I hope you get mine. I was just trying to say that the SRT-4 is a great cheap rocket. It would be a wise investment if you are on a budget if you are looking for a compact rocket. If styling is more your thing, I would go with something else, that's for sure. But then again, that's me. Other people might really like the way the Neon looks. Who knows. It's late and I am out of cigarettes.

Not to rag on Mitsubishi.. seriosly.. I mean i don't like Mitsubishi of America that is.. I'm more of a Evo/VR-4 Enthusiasts.. But Mitsuibishi is like the Ford or Dodge of Japanesse cars.. I'll admit lately..their bringing out some pretty cool cars..and great prices.. but their quality still stinks..and reliability is still pretty bad.. So i have no idea why all you guys are saying it's still a dodge.. Mitsu ain't no Ferrari or something.. They do a great job of brining in cars and keeping them pretty cheap.. but reliability and quality wise...it isn't the best..

4g63.....Name another 4 cylinder motor out of Japan that you can make 500 HP on with stock internals. The only issues with that motor were when they were using the wrong size bearing in the lower end. Other than that, you can not beat that motor. That is why I like Mitsu so much, because of that one damn motor. That is probably the equivalent of a Japanese 302 (except it doesn't burn oil after 25,000 miles).
