Ummm, they actually have the same engine. The automatic models have a bit more torque no matter what the drivetrain. If anything, the X will lose a bit more WHP through its drivetrain then a T but makes up for it with better grip

so why does everyone make a big deal with having an AWD lancer? i see this alot. yeah, someone has offered me to buy a gsx for 6000 bucks with 82000 mi on it... not bad at all... i might get it, it already has a CAI, exhaust, etc. So how much WHP is the gsx pushing? i know Import Tuner just had a Power Page on the Gst.

AWD cars launch better due to the added traction, but they suffer more from drivetrain losses as GPT said. Once a FWD car gets going though and the tires begin to grip fully they're a speed to be reckoned with. You can't beat the ability to tear *** out of a turn with an AWD car due to the added grip, but that doesn't necessarily mean FWD can't hold their own as well.

newozlancer, id say the gst would be better, its a lil lighter than the gsx...but you can always make a car faster, it just takes money. if u can get that gsx for 6k, go for it. just make sure to have it checked out before you buy it.

The beauty of AWD

Almost all of the quickest DSM's are 1G AWD's, due to the fact that they have a more bulletproof bottom end then the 2g's, are a little lighter, and the AWD is better able to cope with the power that they can produce. There are not as many advances in driveline technology for FWD Mitsubishis as there are for FWD Hondas, so even though there may be many 11,10 and even 9 second FWD Hondas, I don't think there are any GS-T's that low, (I think low 12's/high 11's are top), but they can certainly make the necessary power. Necessity is the mother of invention I guess, so people had to do something to get Hondas to hook better, without any AWD option available. As far as the street is concerned (of course I don't condone any illegal exhibition of speed) if you want to drag from light to light an AWD will make up for driver error and make you a force to be reckoned with. If you want lower repair costs and be able to take people from a roll or on the highway, and like to smoke tires every now and again without risking driveline failure you want FWD.

I think a properly driven GST is faster than a GSX on pavement. The big deal with the AWD is that rallying it's mostly done on non-paved surfaces. Thats where the AWD has a real advantage.
A 10 second honda usually are trailer queens and a 12 second GST are usually driven to and from the track and has all of the interior. Thats is a statement in itself. IMHO.

HobieKopek (jk). If your going for street racing, youll have better luck with a GSX. GSTs spend most of the time spinnig the tires through the first few gears and then they lay down the power. Since street races tend to be less than 1320ft the GSXs AWD gives you a awesome advantage due to the fact that they can launch hard and then keep laying the power down.

You're better off with a gsx, as the awd can handle the power. I drive a 2g GST and while great fun in the dry, in the wet the car is frankly dangerous. I usually turn on the a\c in the wet to try and sap some power as the damn thing just wants to understeer all over the place. Never tought i'd be using a\c as a makeshift traction control :')
