HKS cams and AMS tune.
sounds like someone is jealous besides you Dave lol.....I'll get the dyno sheet up tomorrow I been working my *** of this week and haven't had time to put it up. Also I will say this a MR vs. SE the SE is def. faster stock v. stock I don't no if gearing has anything to do with it. Also seems like the MR put down lower numbers than the SE when tuned. I no that has nothing to do with the GSR v. SE but I would just like to point that out.

Yeah, something is off. Only way to make way more torque with less boost and several hundred rpm EARLIER is with a hit or with some funky cam tuning. It is definitely not a good thing to have 390wtq with only 350whp, though - something is wrong there.
I dont see how an SE will make more power than a regular IX when the only changes are cosmetic
Ill have to find a regular IX with my same mods and race to see what the outcome is

Didn't ISP advertise some crazy HP having Evo that AMS asked to have run on their dyno a little while back? Maybe have a flip scenario of a similar situation for people who care enough to warrant it.
I dyno'd my VIII at ISP and at AMS. The setup was a 50Trim 2.3l stroker with some goodies.
ISP and AMS were both right on target. My car put down very consistent numbers at both places.

Another "SE" coincidence is that no 9, even with alky has made over 400whp at our shop; 390 yes, but not over 400; however, yet another SE made 430 whp. We then added alky and cams to another SE - and it made 460 lbs of torque - stock turbo, which is completely uncalled for.
430whp on an SE seems a bit strange. Doesn't TTP Engineering have the highest power 16g with very low 400hps and 440ish tq?
I would love nothing more than to have two stock Evo IX's (SE / Regular) side by side to do a full on comparison, stock for stock, than tuned. If anyone wants to take me up on it - we'll dyno & tune for free and post the results. I am either right, or the "butt dyno" is lying.
PM Evey_EvoIX on DCEvoClub. She has a IX SE with just a boost controller and isn't tuned yet either. I'm sure she'd love a free dyno and tune.
Well, yet another thing to mention is that these pulls are done in freezing cold dyno bay temps; even though the numbers are standard corrected and there is a weather station - almost any car dynoed in frigid cold will have outstanding performance. But even so, until we get a full side-by-side logged comparison going, I doubt the results as well, it is only a hypothesis at this point, so I will not defend this fact until valid proof.
Were the SE's manufactured in 2006 or 2007. Because if they were manufactured in 2007 they might have the upgraded turbo and ecu that the 07's got overseas. If you notice every pic of a 2007 Evo has what we call the "SE appearance package" It seems to be standard for overseas Evos in 2007. 2007 Evo
About the 2007 Evo:
"To begin with, slightly revised turbine and compressor wheels help the turbocharger spool up quicker, building boost lower in the engine's rpm range than before. With a slightly different spark curve and a new fuel delivery profile burned into the engine's electrical control unit, the result is quicker, cleaner throttle response at low rpm plus improved fuel-efficiency."
Just a theory

like rally cars that make 300whp and 450wtq that's really not a good thing huh
I agree something is odd but with the readings but nothing bad.
