HKS cams and AMS tune.
That's where they put the extra torque for the SE. Trade-off I guess...
We are not talking about rally cars - those are DESIGNED to be that way specifically to meet the rules. My comment was not a sweeping generalization for every car - the Evos in question here are NOT designed to do that, and it is not a good sign for a standard-modded Evo on pump gas and 22psi to be making 40-50 more peak WTQ than peak WHP - that is a bad sign and is not good for the car if it's truly happening.
turbo.

Warrtalon is not saying its bad for CARS to make more torque, he is saying its bad for EVOS to make more torque, due the design and turbo setup on the car. geez!
And no im not agreeing with him , just saying that is what he is implying.

There are plenty of Evos making more tq than hp I still don't no why it's a bad thing.
The SE are the filler Evo since there was no 2007 Evo......
Also just a funny thing we found.... the Greddy Turbo Timer will fit underneath the gauges (Behind the change thing) in a Evo IX MR......... however it will NOT fit in that spot in the Evo IX MR SE. Just thought that was weird lol

EvoJoeIX - the 2007 IX sold overseas had some turbo improvements with better spool. In the US, there Mitsu never sold a 2007 model on paper because of side impact laws (no side airbags). So Mitsu labelled all USDM Evo IX's 2006 models. However, some of these 2006 models were built during the 2007 model year. I am speculating that all the IX's built during the 2007 model year (which starts in Aug 2006) are in fact SE models and probably have the same turbo improvements but were unadvertised as being improved. That would explain why AMS finds the SE's to be quicker.
Here I'll end this now...
If you look at your VIN number on your Evo and if the 10th digit is a 6 then you have a 2006 evo reguardless of the fact that it may have been made in 2007! My car was built in 2004 but the 10th digit on my VIN is a 5, which means... ITS A 2005!

people arent understanding what im saying...
yes maybe they made them in 07, BUT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 2007 EVO...
i dont care about over sea cars since most likely none of you are driving one. and id like to see some proof on the turbo refinements ect. that im hearing about FOR THE US MODELS only. im not saying its not true, but i never heard about it until now
I agree there is no 2007 USDM Evo. What I am saying is that Mitsu may incorporated the overseas 2007 improvements into the USDM Evo's built in the 2007 model year. Therefore there may be differences between our 2006 Evos. Most notably the SE and non-SE cars.
* Other Cars
* Turbo Swaps
* Blabbity blah blah
I am curious about these "2007" improvements though.
AMS, dyno a stock IX SE soon please.
