Maybe someone can clear the air on the SE models, but I believe that our SE models are really the 2007 Evo IX's that the rest of the world got. According to Edmunds.com, the 2007 Evo IX got the bigger front lip that is standard on the SE model here and it received improved turbine and compressor wheels that spool quicker. That could be the explanation for why IX SE's here feel a little stronger than non-SE IX's. The way to test this theory is to see what the build dates are for the SE's. The 2007 model year would have been from Aug 2006 until summer of 2007 (or whenever they stopped 2007 production to change the plant over to the new 2008 Lancer platform). Evoangel's IX SE was built in Aug 2006. So technically it would have been a 2007 model.

theres no such thing as a 2007 evo...
they dont put the wrong year on the window stickers

the SE are exactly the same as the rest of the evos(engine wise)
so this is just a freak finding, i guarantee it

sorry joe your wrong... in the states yes the window stickers all said 2006. but there is a 2007 evo, only sold over seas. but we could have gotten some updated parts or "2007" evos, just called them 2006's. its def possible

it is entirely possible, the 06 SEs are actually 07s. they can not be sold as 07s for legal reasons.

Here I'll end this now...

If you look at your VIN number on your Evo and if the 10th digit is a 6 then you have a 2006 evo reguardless of the fact that it may have been made in 2007! My car was built in 2004 but the 10th digit on my VIN is a 5, which means... ITS A 2005!

The SE are the filler Evo since there was no 2007 Evo......

Also just a funny thing we found.... the Greddy Turbo Timer will fit underneath the gauges (Behind the change thing) in a Evo IX MR......... however it will NOT fit in that spot in the Evo IX MR SE. Just thought that was weird lol

EvoJoeIX - the 2007 IX sold overseas had some turbo improvements with better spool. In the US, there Mitsu never sold a 2007 model on paper because of side impact laws (no side airbags). So Mitsu labelled all USDM Evo IX's 2006 models. However, some of these 2006 models were built during the 2007 model year. I am speculating that all the IX's built during the 2007 model year (which starts in Aug 2006) are in fact SE models and probably have the same turbo improvements but were unadvertised as being improved. That would explain why AMS finds the SE's to be quicker.
