Inspection/ Emissions

Hello,

Just recently I moved to Rockville, MD. I am trying to establish residency, however I am told that I need the car INSPECTED and EMISSIONS checked.

When I bought the car a year ago in Virginia, I had the car inspected in Ohio where I currently lived at the time. My question is, do I need to have the car re- inspected and emission checked?

I looked over what they check for during inspection and I can tell you right now I would not pass that hour and a half inspection.

My Mods:
Buschur Stages 1-4/ HKS 280/280/ Stock ECU
I am also running a test pipe.

Please advise as to what you guys did so I can hurry up and get this done. Thanks!!

u can pass emissions easily as long as you dont have a CEL. only way to pass inspection is know someone that can sign you off or get everything fixed. why dont you think you will pass? cuz of the test pipe? just go get it inspected, see what you need to fix, then source used oem parts on here if u dont have them.

I have a CEL as of right now.

Chad from CBRD offered to clear it and install the anti- foulers.

As far as emissions go I think I will be ok. I just heard that the inspection is a lengthy process where they examine everything on the car.

they dont do emissions lol. only a state run place can do that. im sure they can do inspections tho. LMS has anti foulers too. the inspection is a lenghty process. but they only check dumb ish like lights, brakes, and safetly equiptment. they dont look at your cams and ish like that. you should pass no problem, just get the CEL off

You can make your own "non-fouler" for about $5.

Remember to drive the hell out of your car (take a long drive, like a couple hundred miles) once the codes are clear and the anti fouler is in place. Because you have to have so many miles since the last time the codes were reset so they show in a (ready ) state when they check them. If you just erase them and go to inspection they can tell and they will tell you to come back after so many miles.

oh yea, after resetting your battery its usually a minimum of 50 miles +/- for the ecu to record new data and be set an able to be connected to the state inspection machines.

That is the anti-fouler. I did the samething even though you can make your own like what JohnnyHT said.

As stated above, your "CEL" can't be in a pending status for the E-inspection. You never really "clear" your codes until the pending status goes away. PM me if you need help making the non-fouler and reseting your CELs. I have access to an OBDII reader.

Thank you all for your input. The issue I have is with inspection. Do they put your car on a lift to check exhaust?

If this is the case, then there is going to need to be a cat present I assume. So I either buy a stock exhaust or if they do not check then I am sure I can get away with anti- foulers and a reset.

Even if you get the light fix.. they might look under the car and see the test pipe.. Allegheny County here- Pittsburgh area does the whole deal. Scan runs the car and looks under it..
