I'm having problems with my 03. My shifter has been getting stiffer for a while, I ordered some new trany oil for it, but the problem is getting worse rather quickly. The shifter is reluctant to go into gear hot or cold, and I almost can't get it into reverse. With the car sitting on a level surface it will roll slightly forward or backward when I push the shifter into forward or reverse. There's no grinding noise, and when I drive it seems essentially normal except that most shifts require increased effort to move the shifter. When I put the car into reverse before starting the motor it has no problems.

I have some trany oil due here tomorrow to swap, but if it isn't that I will need somewhere to take it. Can anyone recommend some where in my area to take it?

 

i say send it out to a shop(TRE, Buschur, Shep) and get it rebuilt

 

I just changed the tranny oil, after about 40k miles, it was dark and there were some metal shavings on the drain plug magnet, but no crap in the oil. Sending it out to a shop and having it rebuilt is out since Obama eliminated my job. I'd like to get it looked at to find out what is wrong with it first.

 

your gonna pay a decent amount to have it taken off and inspected. shavings is usually a bad sign.
