Emissions tests in Maryland

As many of you know I am moving down to Maryland in a couple of weeks. Gathesberg/Germantown to be exact. I will be installing a RippMods Supa'C in about a month or so and inorder to do so, I am going to have to get an aftermarket header. That said, there is a good possibility that my CEL will flash soon after the mod is in place.

My question is, how does the emission test work in MD? Do they attach a vaccum hose to your tailpipe, or do they plug in a diagnostic cpu under your dash?

Please help
Thanks in advance guys/gals

Mike

I just had my wife's Focus tested two months ago, all they did was plug into the OBDII port under the dash. I sure it will be the same for the Lancer.

Damn.....do you think I'll need to override my 02 sensor to pass emissions?

If your OEM ECU is still in the car, you can pretty much get away with alot of mods in MD. They mainly check for the check engine code, other than that you are free to go.

The supercharger I am getting comes with it's own ECU...do you think that will be a problem?
BTW: I look forward to stopping by your shop when I move down!

are you saying its a stand alone? in MD, any cars that come from factory with a OBD-II port will be just plugged it. There are no sniff checks or dyno runs witht these cars. This includes your lancer. In any case, any car from 1995 on up.

Edit: If it is a stand alone system it will be tricky, like some standalone sytems they dont use the obd-ii port rendering it useless.
