Shearer - Did you guys move, or am I thinking of the wrong place? I seem to remember coming to your shop on the Eastside a few years back.
I'm game.

Nice nice. Beware of premature ignition when the spool gets too fast too soon.

If I drive the Subie leasurly, the car gets about 18 mpg in the Subie....down from 20mpg during warmer climate. Driven with enthusiasm, then 16 mpg sounds about right.

I am usually in the low 20's for mileage, so this is a significant difference. Maybe it's just the cold but I don't remember that big of a drop last year.

Bah well, I'll keep an eye on it.

Interestingly, my Taco has been getting unusually poor gas mileage. I have been thinking that it has a problem, but maybe it could be the extreme cold.

Could it be that this cold air is so dense that that much extra fuel would be required to compensate? On to google to search....

I'm game for a meet whenever.

You guys meet at Quaker, yeah. I've never come, so I don't really consider that normal.

I was referring to when we used to meet at the Quaker in Avon.

Same here, down to 15 mpg sometimes, not higher than 16mpg. No tune though - waiting for Al to come here....

Hey guys, a local question - what radar detector (if any) do you use?

I've been reading about Valentine V1 and 8500 x50. Everyone is saying both of them are great. I seem to lean more towards V1, but wanted to hear your opinions too.

Also, maybe you know where can I find V1 for a good price?

I have a Escort 8500 x50.
But I know many people who have Valentine V1s.

I went with the Escort because on the radar reviews it got almost as good ratings as the V1 with a little more leverage in the price.

Overall I've been satisfied but you can't go wrong with a V1. The added functionality of a V1 is that it gives directional signals when you pick up a radar signal. Meaning that you could be picking up signals in multiple directions and it would pick them up....

Only downside of V1 radars is that they're one of the most expensive consumer radar detector on the market. They also don't depreciate in price so even if you get a used one, they typically don't lose much value.
