Bobby, you could probably buy a mint RB26, have it shipped to the states, and sell it for a %150+ profit.

Welcome back Capt Bob! Sounds like good times in the down unda. Can't believe you dragged Lis down to a used car lot...awesome.

I'll help you post the pics whenever ur ready.

Seen a boatload of STI/WRXs where I'm at...but only like 2 Evos...both MRs, one GG and one WW.

I've seen about 15 Skyline's on the road, all modded only 1 R34 GT-R though. I was just at a used car lot with about 20 Skyline's, 5 Supras, a couple FD's, 7 Sylvias, couple 180SX's, a Pulsar GTI-R, Mitsu GTO, I almost had a heart attack.

Oh, and the Holdens. My My, it's a GM company but only for the Aussies. They are sick, and everywhere! Actually, I was reading up in the thread about the Pontiac G8. It's going to be a convert from a Holden. Just like the American Pontiac GTO is actually and was firstly the Holden Monaro.

I have pics of all the madness but they are all too big to post. I need some help with that. Maybe Talon, Ny-Quil, or LilJapnBoy could help me.

Stay tuned, I may bring home an R-34 VSpec! (Just have to figure out how to get it registered)

Someone have some contact info for Scott at S&S?
The wife wants to take the sideskirts off the car and pitch them..... I think she's nuts.. so I'm hoping he can take a look and possibly fix them..

Just tough to get the car out of the driveway when there is a foot of snow blocking the car

Thanks for posting those pics E.

I've been doing some research and it appears that the only "legal" GTR is the R33. Not the 32 or 34. However, I could go to a Registered Importer (RI) and have them petitition the NHTSA (nat'l highway and traffic safety admin) to allow them to bring in an R34 and that they would also bring the car up to FMVSS (fed motor veh safety standards) to include 5mph crash beams, proper headlight aiming, etc.. The RI would also have to ensure that the car would meet EPA standards for US vehicles as well.

This whole process is all not really that invovled but there are only a handful of RI's and of course they know that they are one's only legal way to import some vehicles to the states so thay can ram it home big time in the $$$ department. I'm still investigating and calling some RI's today but it appears that by the time you spend all the money to make it legal that you could have a brand new 2008 GTR.

^^ Depends on what version and flavor.

An R32 - 20k - 30k USD
R33 - 30k - 40k USD
R34 - 40k - 60k USD

The yellow GTR was an R34 GTR Vspec with 70k kilometers (about 42k miles) It was mint! I couldn't believe how clean it was and I am really particular about clean (ask anyone here). They were asking 70k AUD which is about 54k USD. In my opinion that was a bargain.

At this point I think it would be easier to move there for a couple years, buy a GTR, get the whole R34 thing out of my system, and then move back to the US.
