I had no idea they were that expansive. How much does it cost (roughly) to legalize any vehicle ? Not just skyline, but let's say RHD supra or an Evo?

Well, that's the hard part. As I'm finding out it's not like you can just buy a GTR and have it shipped, pay some taxes, and title it. Not at all!

Especially for the Skyline. Motorex F'd it all up with the DOT for the rest of us. Right now only the R33 is legal to bring into the US.

To get an R34 here is extremely cost prohibitive! It sucks actually. Funny you can buy a kit car, put it together, and you're good to go. In no way can you do that with a GTR.

R33 is my favorite out of them all! Good luck either way.

Buy the car and strip it to the bare shell. Ship everything in a few different shipments, through different carriers, and reassemble here. Strip the car of all badgings and vin tags and get inspected as a kit car. Easy.

I know that you have to go through all the inspections. That's obvious. If not then we would have supras and such all over the place. I know they cost less there than here, and not that rare.

But with R33 you're saying you can bring it here and than just register? I really doubt it, but I might be wrong?

Or did you mean that it's just less expansive to get it registered here than R34?

Let's put it this way, how much roughly to register an R33?

^ Dude, none of it is that easy at all. Here is a tiny sliver of some of the reading I've been doing.

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...lig010807b.htm

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...es/page10.html

That's just the NHTSA part of it.

You also have to comply with the EPA and IRS requirements. Yes the IRS.

Shearer, nice idea!

When I registed my Fiat, I remembered that in order to freely register a foreign car, it has to be over 25 years old.
