jeez, nothing going on in this thread... everyones prob too busy finally having fun. I know ive been distracted, ALL the decent chicks are finally out at my complex pool!

but anyways, Ive gotten my car to be running trouble-free, and have been tinkering a LOT with ecuflash. Anyone else in the area interested in learning as much as I am?

I have so far:

Installed a JDM 3bar map sensor and modified my rom accordingly

Programmed my XML to support my MUT display, and have been figuring out 2byte load, rpm, and airflow.

Programmed my tactrix openport 2.0 to log all my important stuff via SD card, and rigged it to log an analog output from my lc-1 by connecting it to Pin 8

Leaned out my AFR during cruise and idle. (still wondering where the safe/sweet spot is)

Lowered my cold start RPM to 1k

So I feel I have a good start, and id like to share my interest with others with more or less wisdom on the subject. Come to think of it though, Im yet to even MEET another evo owner here in natti...

Yes, I've been wanting to learn I just haven't bought the cables yet. Currently I am waiting on my new Cam and crank sensors and installing them. My car died the other day as usual but had a hard time restarting. I am going to install the new items and then take it to Buschur so I can get it retuned. Car was previously tuned by Pruven performance and the tune sucks. At idle it will peg the AFR gauge to both sides, lean then to the rich side and pour out the black smoke and stumble.

Timmy,

Nice change of heart. Pick you up a cheap jeep and let's go play in the mud.

Only 4 months left in this damn deployment boys. Then I will be home to solve all of your Evo problems. The jury is still out on the shop. I won't have enough for initial start up costs. I may have to just work out of my garage for a while.

I don't mind messing with it if someone is willing. I have a trip to SC coming up the week of the 4th of July and I was planning on going to Buschur's before then but if I can just get my idle fixed then I will wait until I save up more money to go. I am game for fixing this but my only problem is this weekend I am tearing up my blacktop driveway and next weekend pouring concrete so the car will be stuck in the garage for a minimum of 2 weeks.
We can do it any weekend evening (I work crappy 2nd shift) that you are able to but unfortunantely you will have to come up to my place which is about 45 min. from cincy but easy to find and I will pay you some gas money and some grub, since I can't get my car out. Guys around my place drool over Evo's also, so they might like seeing yours. Just let me know what you are willing to do. PM me if you want my cell.

Also I am installing me new cam and crank sensors, the guy at the auto parts store said he cannot clear the codes, I will have to unhook the battery. My question is will I lose my current tune or does the ecu permanently save this? I am hoping to have the crank sensor swapped out this weekend, I already did the cam sensor today.

Dang sir I had no idea you were actually into your evo. When I spoke to you at that drill I thought you had just started to mess around with evoscan by the way you made it sound to tune a car lol. You were like you just do this this this and that so I thought you must have just started messing with it. Guess I really must have kicked myself in the nuts because I found a member on club3g that is supposedly good to get me a dual map rom setup as well as tune when I get my 4g64 fp red build complete. I just got my evo less than a week ago actually from new member on here. I kinda took a chance as he had no itrader rating but luckily it worked out and I have my new evo in my driveway and he has one new good itrader rating. I am trying to wait to get better pictures before posting them here as it's pretty dirty and in pieces but feel free to stop by and I'll show you some pictures if you want to you know where I work.

I thought it would, just like any other car does but I wanted to be 100% sure before I messed with it. Thanks.

I am really wanting to get my idle tune fixed to save me some money for right now after dropping 4k on my driveway doing it myself too. In July I am going south for a week then after I get back I am wanting to take it to Buschur when I save up a little more money.

Hey does anybody have an evo x, with an aftermarket clutch? Man mine makes Wicked Clutch Chatter!!!!! I was just trying to find out if every evo with an aftermarket clutch makes this noise. John Shepherd rode in my car and told me it was the springs in the clutch disc rattling. I down graded from a stage 3 to a 1, and its even worse. It does it when i let off the gas and leave it in gear. Its so loud. I have wide open exhaust, no cat, no muffler, and i could hear it when i was driving behind my car.

i have the ACT HDG6 6 puck w/ streetlite flywheel. i normally get a slight vibration in 4th gear when accellerating, but goes away. It does not always happen. I think it may be where the rpm's are that you engage it at. John knows his stuff, if that is what he says then probably right. what clutch are you using? some make more chatter than others. when you changed from stage 3 to stage one did you stay with same manufactur or did you do different? if it was the same, maybe try a brand that has been tested reliable on here and go for that. have a reputable install by sonmeone who knows about the evo trannys... when i got mine done, i had to have a local shop do it... I had brownies transmission do mine, luckly the mechanic was also an evo owner, so he knew what he was doing. if your in area let me know, i'll let you drive mine and see if it is the same.
