I know we discussed track days last time we had a meet back in Feb was it.
Well the season is approaching fast. If any of you are interested in tracking your car at a real roadcourse with proper instruction and safety setup here is the chance!
https://secure.drivenasa.com/event/887
All you need is a car in good working condition (chek your brakes bleed your fluid, good pads, etc) and a helmet.
cost for a full weekend (includes 8 driving sessions, classroom instruction, and in car instruction) is 300$ if you sign up online. The class you should sign up for is called HPDE1 (high performance driving event) and is where everybody should start who is new to the track.
If you are new and not yet a member of NASA and you want to sign up to drive at Putnam Park (45 mins west of Indy) on May 16/17 weekend, let me know. I may be able to get them to waive your 40$ membership fee.
I will also encourage all you other to come out and spectate or volunteer. Its HELLA fun. Concentrated mass of car enthusiasts, all kinds of cool cars to look at and most guys are super friendly and willing to let you poke around and ask q's.
Tons of really experienced drivers with infinite knowledge and tips for free. It would be a great outing even if you don't want to (or cant afford to) drive. Just bring all your standard picnic/food/chairs/umbrellas and wotnot and have a good time.
If you volunteer, you get 4 "points" for each full day of volunteering. when you collect 16 points, (2 complete track weekends). You get a free track day! 300$ value!
All you need is a membership, and then sign up on the same website. They even provide you with free lunch, and a party on Sat with food and beers if you volunteer. AND you can get hands on with all the cars, either tech inspections, or grid marshals and whatnot, much better access than just spectator.
Anybody interested in going? HPDE1 driving spots and volunteer spots FILL UP FAST they are in hella high demand. So if you are interested register NOW!

I really like driving with my buddy with the Sti. If he's following me I don't have to worry about going to fast or taking a small opening. He just keeps up, it's nice. For years I've been used to looking for bigger openings in traffic for my other friends.
Just my .02 for the day.
