Question Chicago area mechanics

Anyone know of trustworthy mechanic in Chicagoland that knows Evolutions? When I take my Evo out of storage this spring I want to do some simple mods that I am just too darn busy to do myself - short throw shifter and clutch cable for starters.

I heard from one of the AMS guys that you have to saw off the stock shifter to install an aftermarket short throw shifter.

Yes definately go with ams AMS. I was specially happy with them after I dealt with a bunch of other places that didnt know what they were doing, were over priced, and had horrible customer service. I was having some difficulty with the AFCII they installed for me and they talked me all the way trhough the solution on the phone.

Well I suppose that would be a true statement if you were too cheap to buy the $15 replacement part.

And in all honesty if you can work a ratchet and a screw driver you can do it yourself. It's so easy it's silly (and that's coming from a non-car tweakin guy). I installed Kartboy's shifter and love it to death.

Follow this guys how to, takes an hour at most. You can't go wrong.....Short Shifter Install How To
