I have a 2003 toyota that does that. I have thought about sticking a screw driver into the speaker. If only they didn't build the dash around it.

I looked through the entire tone alarm section of the manual I have, and found no reference to a reverse tone alarm. There is an etacs-ecu function customize tone alarm that mitsubishi may be able to set with the M.U.T. too.

Is there regulation there that new vehicals must have reverse alarm?

Do you have the rear view camera? That is the only part that adds beeping while in reverse in the USDM models. It basically changes the pitch depending on how close you are to objects while in reverse.

Maybe if I had one of those, my Toyota wouldn't need a quarter panel....nor my evo repaint of the rear bumper.

i also have the beeps ding dong ding dong ding dong and even when u pass 119km/h on the speedo. i wrote a how to with pics somewhere in the forum. search for 120 km/h

basically u just have to take the entire speedo module out and take the white plastic cover out.

i did not remove the speaker but instead i managed to greatly reduce the beeping. just place a tape over it :P hope this helps.

tip, it isnt hard to remove the entire panel you will just have to look around on how to remove the speedo panel which is linked to both of your ac panels left and right and lower your steering column.

All Gulf spec cars come with a beeping or blinking warning light when you drive over 120kph, luckily the mitsu dealership here in the UAE can remove this annoying chime. When they remove it all the cars electric noises cease to exist. I always forget my blinkers are on cause I cant hear them anymore.
Ask a mitsi mechanic to remove it. I know they have to remove the speedometer part of the dashboard when they do it.
I tried doing it myself on my Outback and ended up cutting the wrong wire causing my ABS light came on.
It may not be that difficult on the evo.
