Tranmssion sound at startup while brake engaged

When I start my car with either the foot brake or the emergency brake engaged, a loud clunk/grind happens. When I start the car without either engaged, the sound does not happen. Is this normal with SST transmissions? The dealership said I would have to drop the car off for a day or two in order to investigate. If it's a normal sound then I won't bother.

I grind isn't really normal. You should bother.

Be very demanding as a customer.

If they fob you off with a "wait and see" approach, get written confirmation from Mitsubishi rep that IF the grind is in fact heralding an SST failure, then they will treat it as a warranty repair... because the problem was formally noted while still under warranty.

etc. etc. Sorry if I'm giving a course in sucking eggs.

Im pretty sure i figured out what the grind on start up is all about. The starter is getting hung up on the flywheel. Its probably a lubing problem but unless someone wants to try replacing the starter im not gonna worry about it.

So I just got my car back from the dealer. They performed an air bleed procedure on the transfer case. So far so good. I also found out there was a recall with the headlights that was just issued. It was listed as "reaim headlights recall."

It's a SST issue. I had it in my MR almost every time I started it. It would lurch forward slightly also.
