S-Sport

Hello everyone,

Is there a possibility to remap the SST ECU in order to get it directly into S-Sport mode upon starting ?
I don't want to put it in S-Sport mode after each start.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/ ideas.

Regards

No. Still don't have it figured out how to put it in Ssport while moving either. It's all locked up in the TCU, and no one has cracked it yet AFAIK.

Why would you want to drive it in S-Sport all the time for?

I almost exclusively drive my wifes car in Ssport-manual. Except for long freeway cruises where I want to use cruise control.

Any truth to needing to let the clutches warm before switching to s-sport? (for normal driving)

Seems like I've seen some say they switch to s-sport as soon as they start the car, while others wait to after 10-15 minutes of driving.

There are separate devices that do this:

Speed circuit has a video on their YouTube channel. I mean once it’s installed it’s hidden and when you turn the car on, you see the SST auto switch to SSPORT.

Super-Sport is definitely a good idea for anyone getting into 24+ psi boost on a tuned car as it allows much less slip compared to the other modes. I never knew someone came up with a device that auto selects it at startup, that is clever!

As far as allowing Super Sport to increase clutch pressures while moving I'm not sure if there is a technical reason why it can't ramp up pressures on the move or if they just decided that it would only be allowed below a certain speed. One thing I've noticed is that it will engage below a few MPH so if there is no physical issue it's very possible that switching one data value might allow it but who knows.

Since the only real issue with switching to Super Sport right at startup is that you can't use cruise control it would be nice if there was a way to over ride that limitation as well. Likely Mitsubishi didn't want you to "cruise" in auto drive mode with Super Sport hanging RPM's at high levels and potentially damaging the engine over time but it could just be a matter of finding out what toggle switch lets you turn it on in the ECU or TCU. Maybe one way would be to fool the computer into thinking you are not moving for the 4 seconds you are engaging Super Sport but I'm not sure if it would be that simple without triggering all kinds of limp modes if the car suddenly lost it's speed input values.
