My brake dillema -- Suggestions
I tried the Level Max 900s once and destroyed the whole set in one day. They faded on me pretty badly. I've since changed to PF97s and they've been much better and have also lasted MUCH longer.
I think the problem with the rotors comes from the fact that he tore up his stock pads down to the backing plates. 2-pc rotors will obviously not make you stop in a shorter distance, the design in them is to provide a longer life span to the rotors. There is less chance of the rotor warping.
BBK if properly designed do help, not always necessarily with shorter stopping distance although it is possible with the correct pad, tire, and bias setup. The benefit is less fade over a longer period of time.
I think the stock calipers with ducting, 2-pc rotors with a good design, pads, and all the other little tricks is a great setup. The OP's braking style might need to be adjusted or he needs to step up to a more race worthy pad. The only way you will find out what is best for you is to experiment with your setup. That is the beauty of brakes falling under consumables. When your current setup is worn, if you feel it is needed, upgrade to something better.

I am the OP and I agree that running the pad down to nothing was poor management on my part. That will never happen again. I would still like to do SOMETHING to aid in brake cooling/longevity.
I don't see how a 2 piece rotor cannot cool better than the stockers. That being said I'm not hearing very many rave reviews about the 2PC rotors.
Maybe titanium inserts, mitsu brake ducts, aggressive pads, and disposable rotors are the hot ticket.

I'm not sure whats not to like about a good set of 2 piece rotors? They are light, not too expensive to rebuild and run much cooler. Most folks can get a full season out of a set and just rebuild in the offseason. Not bad at all.

I'm not finding sub $600 two piece rotors..... I believe I'm leaning towards racing brake but I'm not paying 600+ bones for front rotors that don't provide $600 worth improvements!

IMO I believe these are about the best 2pc rotors you will find. Not sure if this is the cheapest vendor but I haven't really found a better deal lately. A 2pc is far superior to running "cheap" rotors. The material used is better and when you dont have to replace the whole rotor its nice. The curved vein setup cools much better also. I would vote some PF 2pc, PF97's or 01's, Motul 600, and whoever the best ducting kit out at the moment. PF stuff is expensive but AMS runs the PF01's on their TA car and well you know how fast they are. I would vote PF97's since you only run 255's. The PF01's stop at volcano like temperatures but eat rotors for lunch (thats where centric blanks might be handy).

Holy hell that is a decent price.....
I still have a brand new set of Carbotech XP12s to kill then I'll give the 97s a try. I rotate between Motul 600 and ATE superblue.
Anyone find better prices on other 2 piece rotors?

i'll be ordering my rotors in like a week but i need to choose from DBA or PF 2pc.
i still have not found any info relating how much 2pc rotor is better than 1pc
other than sweet *** looks and .... looks lol
the manufacturers will say their **** is the best so cant really trust that...

if its cheaper to replace the pair of the worn out surface on the 2pc rotors than to buy the new 1pc rotors/new... IMO its worth it.
since you will save $$ by rebuilding it even if the rotors dont make that much of a difference. in a long run you still comeout on top...
ONLY if the rebuild kit is less than $150~200.

looks like a good deal.
i would trash the pads.
ferodos DS2500 FTW~!

They also tend to weigh a few pounds less due to the aluminum hat, and any weight savings on "unsprung" AND rotating mass means you get an increase in acceleration, braking, and cornering performance.
And finally, the aluminum hats won't rust, so they will look better much longer than steel 1 piece jobs.
