More 6spd carnage!!
Right on cue, after reading about Razorlab losing 4th recently, I lost 4th today as well after some intense laps on the road course today. I use 4th for about 80% of the track (if not more) and don't shift much at all, so I guess it just gave up the ghost. Gear 1-2-3-5-6 are all fine with no obvious issues, but 4th is completely gone, and I can hear a hunk of metal bouncing around in there only when moving.
I guess it's time to send it to Shep, but just wanted to share another MR 6spd story. It was a crappy day all around, since my V710s shredded, and I fouled up one of my stock wheel studs. On the bright side, using Hawk HP+ pads up front (stock rotors/stock lines) was VERY successful - those things definitely worked better than anything I've felt, which is mainly just stock rotors + stock pads. They bedded nicely, then took everything I gave them with no problem. I also got enough track time with my lead instructor to get signed off for HPDE4, but now it's time for new race tires and a rebuilt tranny.

damn sorry to hear that. So i guess what i heard a while back might be true. I guess the old 5 spds are a bit stronger? It kind of makes sense, same size tranny, but one extra gear = smaller/ weaker gear set?

It's always possible. Maybe 4th is particularly weaker while 1-3 are stronger. It probably didn't help that I use 4th almost exclusively on the local tracks.
Oh, forgot to mention that I still managed to put down the fastest lap of the day. This was only HPDE3/HPDE4 cars, so not a bunch of race cars were included, although a few participated as HPDE4 cars. Only 2 of us were below 1:50, and my best was 1:46.9 on the RT615s - had no good times on the V710s, because they were on their way to the grave apparently.

Dan, I still have the stock lines, stock rotors and SuperBlue from before. The rotors/lines will show up here soon, but I wanted the pads immediately, so VIP Garage overnighted the HP+'s to me after receiving them on Friday. They were great and interestingly they didn't squeal despite not re-using the shims nor bothering to grease them - I only planned on using them on the road course, but they weren't noisy anyway.

I think the rotors (slotted) are made by Centric, and I think the lines are made by Teknafit? I didn't order them - they just get sent to me by VIP Garage through their brake supplier.

That sucks Clayton. Sounds exactly like my failure. 4th gear and everything. It's turning out to be the problem gear in the 6spd.
The heat this summer isn't helping obviously.
Hopefully my rebuild + tranny cooler keeps it away in the future.
best of luck in the repair. I'll let you know how mine goes and you do the same!
I hope you got it towed home as any driving, even in other gears can make it worse and in return, cost more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
