For the beginner hotlapper HT-10 should be fine, but as you become faster I would go with the HT-14.

Are you not exaggerating a bit? I have been going on stock pads and rocking out even on r-compounds. I just now went to the HP+ this weekend, and it was a night and day difference. I had to re-learn the term "braking," because my threshold brake points were much later all the sudden. I am guessing the HT-10 is even better than the HP+, right? If so, I would probably be able to make pretty good use of them, then eventually move up to the HT-14 maybe.

If you loved the HP+, then you will love the HT-10 even more. Try those next and when you become faster (as I am sure you will) switch to the HT-14.

I started hotlapping on Porterfields R4s and they SUCKED. Then I switched to Axxis Ultimates. Though this is a combo street/race pad, I used it for racing purposes only. But then I became too fast for the pad. I could tell since material from the pad was transfering in chuncks to the rotors. Finally, I switched to the Hawk Blue. Hawk blues are the fantastic on a light to medium weight car. Our Evos, however, will destroy them in one hotlapping day especially if you are an advanced driver.

I'm a novice! But we'll see...I will try the HT-10 as my first dedicated race pad.

Agreed on the Blues. They don't work well in the heavy cars. IMHO. Those HT pads work great.

If you never faded the stock pads on the 3rd to 4th lap or any session you aren't going fast enough.

I definitely faded them, but I didn't have any other frame of reference until I used the HP+'s this weekend. The difference was drastic - my braking never seemed to weaken.

Well, might as well use them till they stop working

Take a look at the PMU MAX900's too, under $200 and have been working great for me. I'm all about cheaper pads since I go through the damn things so much.

If someone searches the title, they will have 70% brake pad chatter, not 6sp details. You should make a new thread Clay or have a mod split the thread.

I think it's still closer to 70% tranny talk, but there is enough to brake chatter to break out a new thread. I will report a post and make that request.

Ouch- sorry to hear clay... I picked the 5-speed because I busted two 6-speeds on track before... I hear Shep is the man for this stuff though.

Brakes- try the Raybestos ST-41s or 43s someday.

Regards

Thanks, I was curious. I have to wonder if it's best to run what Mitsubishi
recommends on the stock 6spd trannys.
