Comprehensive Evo STU prep thread?
I have no idea what I'll do next year.I did notice the winning STi at Nats also had Neovas with an 06 build date.
Us Evos need to come up with a plan to beat the STi's next year.
I'm not sure I even believe it's possible at Heartland Park. We got spanked, and I know of at least one more 07 STi jumping into STU in my region that's got at least one really fast driver (maybe two).
BSP anyone?
I still think an Evo can contend for the overall but it really will be course dependent. I wasn't at nationals this year but from the video I saw, both courses had sections that looked like they favored that extra half liter of displacement of the STi's.
Interesting tidbits on the Neovas, that will be good info to have when I buy a fresh set before September!

I've started our new 2008 STU thread. Hey the SM and BSP guys are doing it

I updated the info on the first page again to repair some grammatical errors and add some current STU knowledge. DWP, you can cut info from my original thread and add it to yours if you like.
I didn't make mention of the newest STU Evo mod........the X.
AYC=FTW? Where's Dave H? Did he get his X yet?

I'm not so sure about the X. The AYC will be a benefit but, the added weight its put on isn't going to help any. We'll just have to wait and see.
One thing is certain is that it the GSR will be the car to have until the RS is released as far as the X is concerned. The SST system simply will not, from what I've read, hold up to much higher than stock power figures. Plus the MR is the heaviest of the Xs.
But than again, no ones raced one yet so that could all be thrown out the window

No X for me until the RS comes ashore, or should I say, if it comes ashore. I'm not interested in a fat **** car. With limited aftermarket support in it's first year of production (shocks, bars, exhaust, tuning, etc), custom one-off's don't appeal to me at the moment. I had enough made for my VIII. Besides, I may sit this season out and maybe pick-up a 9 RS/SE after Nat's or wait and see what Mistu brings to the table in 09'. The new STI and 135i were alternates, but it looks like they have their share of faults too.
I'm also thinking of dabbling in TT.
Dave
Which brings up the question... what about the Ralliart in STX? None of the current Subies are legal due to the 2.0L displacement restriction, but the Ralliart will be legal and from what the specs say, it should have an edge over the 2.0L WRXs. Of course, that "edge" may not be realized until the ECU is cracked/and-or has a good piggyback for it to make the power.

This is funny given the current state of the world
(I was researching what it costs to get an Evo prepped for STU

I don't blame you. Luckily my EVO pretty much built to acceptable limits in STU,
however the driver is another story.
I've seriously been considering running in a cheaper slower class.

Ive run both RT-615's and Direzza * spec. The Direzza *'s hands down are a superior tire. 615's get slippery when hot, and are crazy slick when cold, which ended up leaving me about 3 good laps before the tires got too hot. The Direzza *'s seem to have a very linear grip capability from warmup to white flag which made them very predictable from lap to lap.
