Comprehensive Evo STU prep thread?
Was there ever an outcome to the strut bar rule? First there was a change to only allow swiveling types, but then it was rescinded in a later fasttrack. Anybody else want to write a letter to simply allow any bar attaching to the stock holes?

Dkao has one girl in college and another on her way to Providence. Since I have no money left, I might as well spend them all on something I like to do.
#1 STU guy in DC, Philly, and now Susquehanna all told me a two point bar is a waste of money. And you are all correct. I did ask Mike if the three point Mitsubishi aluminum bar in the accessory catalog in legal, and he wasn't sure. I thought that only two point aftermarket bar is legal and three point aftermarkets are not.
I don't mind writing the letter but there is got to be someone here that knows that top man at the Solo rules committee that can validate this by a simple phone call...

Hey Danny,
Non stock strut 3 pt. bars, including the dealer installed Mitsu Alum version, are not legal for ST or SP.
Rick
Thanks Rick!
BTW, my "Wing" has been undefeated until today at a NASA Autox event. Don't understand why I am being grouped in the same class as a Lotus Elise with R-Compound, but I think a Nissan Sentra kicked my butt too. Oh well, I had fun! Here is a picture of the wing. You have to send me some Ciro Design stickers so I can give credit where it's due!

Just put some R compounds on! I did that and won the NASA autocross at GT-Live, out here in SoCal. Your car should be faster than a stock lotus if it had the stock A048 r tires, maybe it had hoosiers or 710s?

It was a NASA event at VMP (Virginia Motorsport Park) at Petersburg, VA. They will have another event on the 2nd. Big lot, and 6-8 runs are not out of the question and people are very friendly. Their site is:
http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/
If I really have money I would have gone out and buy a Z06. They are fast!
It's actually pretty big. I would say it's 100 times bigger than Boeing.
Just kidding. The FTD was a Z06, just shy of 50 seconds. The course goes to the end of the lot and comes back. There were three straight away sections: The first two sections before the middle turn around, I hit 2nd gear rev limiter on both sections. The 3rd straight away I hit 80mph+. So I think the course is pretty big. I think it's about twice the size of Ripken.
NASA mid-atlantic autox are pretty relaxed. Only about 35 people attended the event. The max registration is only 60 drivers. We got eight runs each and each heated lasted two hours. People are very friendly, it moved along very smoothly. Tech began at 10am, course walk at 11am, meeting at 11:30am, and 1st car off at 12pm and ended at 4:30pm. No award ceremony, just a lot of runs.
It's about a 4 hour+ drive from Philly but it's definitely worth going if you are getting withdrawals. Next event is on 12/3, then 1/20. They have a two day autox/circuit cross fest at VIR in Feb which sounds interesting too.
Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

Found this link on the SCCA forums but it looks like some initial testing of the Dunlops is in......looks like you'll still need to open your wallet and say "Neova's please!"

They seem like a decent wet tire though. Oh well, I'm still sticking to the REO1Rs. I've been able to hang with alot of the top STU guys on their Neovas, plus the REO1Rs are still $100 cheaper per tire!!!!

Went to the last NASA event of the year last Sunday, with stock street tires and all and still finished 4th in raw time. The first three places all have R-comps and they are new Z06, New Z51 vette, and one prepped STI. Evo's do really well in the high powered NASA course and I hit the 2nd gear rev-limitor twice on the way out, and went over 80 MPH on the return. With the wing the car was rock solid in the high speed stuff.I highly recommend everybody to run in some NASA events when you get a chance. You can definitely get your speed fix there and people are very friendly in my region (Mid-Atlantic) which made it very enjoyable.
On the Dunlops, I think they'll be a good local event tire and rain tire but for the national level it looks like they'll be a tick behind. I was hoping they would be a little closer in dry grip to the Neova.
Rumor has it that Yokohama is already developing a replacement for the Neova that will be available in more sizes. Hopefully that helps the cost issue and that it will be a better tire!
