Evo SCCA ITE SPM Car

Just finishing up a Customer's Evo.

Did a complete cage, interior stripping, side window replacement (lexan), sunroof removal (new Skin replacement) and seat install.

Customer had most of the interior in years season and was running a Auto power bolt in cage. We removed everything that was legal to remove to save weight. Started with gutting the door shells, glass, electric motors, etc. replace glass with lexan, about 50% weight saving there.

Stripped all of the undercoating from interior, removed the Sunroof, electric motor and frame. cut out center roof section and replaced with a stock steel center. save about 50lbs.

Fabbed in the 8pt roll cage from scratch, focusing on keeping the chassis rigid and safe for the driver.

When all was fabbed, we painted the complete interior and cage a light grey.

New roof and bumper cover!

Shots of the finishing of interior and wiring.

Custom made battery box, sits inder main hoop on passenger side floor.

Custom Aluminum center console to allow the use of aftermarket start switch and toggle panels.

Should be done tonight all things willing and off to the diff and clutch shop.

Good stuff! I may be interested in removing my sunroof one day. Does Mitsu sell the roof skin as a separate part? Why didn't you replace it w/ the aluminum one?

We tried, both called different dealers, one was into Motorsports and both said Aluminum wasn't available. No current part number in the system. I would have thought it would be. The normal Lancer roof skin in very thin and weighs little compared to the under structure and moon roof frame.

Plus we gained an additional 1.5" plus of head room.

I was under the impression that you couldn't paint the welds? Whats the status of the build currently?

That's a serious ITE build... Great job on the cage.

ITE's shaping up to be a very interesting class!

I recently saw an ITE 944 Turbo running GT2 lap times.
