How many of you have fried the ABS sensor mount? Would someone please post a picture showing how they fixed this problem. I would like to remove the heat shields but am scart to do so.

Also do those factory Mitsu air scoops actually work? Does the undertray even work?

Are the street miles mostly highway to get to the track (i.e., little brake usage)?
Our PCA groups give you 4 20min sessions. Other non-DE events give you 5-6 20min sessions. That day I did 5 20min sessions on a 1.8mile track. It was a guess on mileage - I know I went through 2 full tanks of gas a 5gals of 104... That's why I included the gas information.
How much gas did you go through at Summit then?

Any yeah, the street miles are just to/from the track; 90% interstate cruising.

I was using around 6 gallons a session at Summit in the dry.

Wow, you guys must get more track time then - and/or have higher speed tracks.

Questions:
I tried the PMu Level Max 900 pads up front and you could hear me from 3 towns away - they squeaked after suggested bedding techniques applied 2x! Anyone else have this?

I tried the RB ET800 pads up front with my trusted Ferodo rears and the RB's did not seem to cut it - they felt soft and almost too progressive with no initial bite and I had to stand on the brake for real stopping power. Anyone experience this?

I'm using RB 2 piece rotors, Mitsu cooling guides, SS lines, Motul 5.1 (no boiling) - the only change was the pads.

Thoughts?

The DTC's and Raysbestos pads are looking better and better. I switched from Ferodo after received 3 sets of cracked pads.

Racing brake rotors are very very picky about pad choice. They like Hawks, and they like aggressive pads. I would go with the Hawk DTC's.

I haven't used the RB800s yet, but have switched from DTCs to RB900s. The 900 bite great once warm, like the DTC60s. I think RB came out with the 800 because the lighter cars were locking up, but I thought the 900s were perfect on an Evo.

Mixing different pads front and rear can also make it difficult to figure out what is really going on, since differing coefficients of friction can change the ratio of energy that is dissapated front to rear, which also changes the operating temperature of the pads. For instance, if the RB800s had a higer coefficient of friction than the Ferodos on the rear, then the operating temperature of the fronts might have been higher than what they would normally see with similar pads on the rear.

I called RB and requested they replace the 800s with 900s - I'm awaiting a call back, but they seemed reasonable so far.

I will be returning the 700s I purchased for the rear for 900s as well. Thanks David and Andrew for your input. I would like to give them one more chance based on my experience with their products. If unsatisfied, it'll be the DTCs.

UPDATE: The 900s on the front with DS2500s on the back are great, even in the colder temps - when the rotors heat up (even in mid brake section), you can feel the additional bite. I have 900s for the back I plan to install when the Ferodos wear out.

I visited RB's headquarters and spoke to their chief engineer; nice guy and took the time to have a chat with me - A good product complimented by good support makes for a lasting relationship.

End of year Update:

3 days on track now with them, including 1 day in the rain. Overall I'm really liking the pads. The on/off modulation issue I didn't like has gone away. I'm assuming it was mostly attributed to a new 7/16" pad and just my personal learning curve. I was able to heel/toe last time out continually and brake deep into corners with confidence repeatedly.

I might have gotten these too hot last time out though. I did not experience fade, but when I would go out for my later sessions, I had to pump the brake pedal back up to 'firm up' the pedal. Reminded me of the feeling you get after bleeding your brakes and you have to 'firm up' the pedal. Brake fluid level was spot on, so there were no leaks.
My calipers have darkened a bit, but not like I expected. Kinda sad really....lol.

My setup:
PFC01's all around, 255/40-17 RA1's, Motul. Stock rotors; no cooling ducts; no front undertray.
End of year Update:
Took off my PFC01's last night, and 6 total track days, the fronts look to be pretty much used up (pics below). I'm not sure if I could get any more out of them, probably not a full day or anything. I might keep the best 2 for backups.

Not surprisingly the rears look really good and I will be using next year.

Not bad at all imo. Here's a quick pic I took last night of my now 'maroon-bo' caliper; and you can see the rotor on it. There's no specific ridges or grooves in either of my front rotors.
