How are the room rates out there Corey? I'll think it over and see if I can make Toledo work ($, schedule & family considerations).

Rooms are reasonable. I think I'm paying about $60. I actually love going to Toledo. The drive is relatively easy, there is food/lodging nearby, the local auto-xers that run the site are friendly and do a great job, and the site is AWESOME.

I will try to spread the word on the DC SCCA forum. If there are only Corey, Mike and me running in Toledo, we all know who the biggest loser will be It's never pretty finishing 5 seconds behind the 2nd slowest.

Anybody pick up on the swiss cheese rotor thread over on sccaforums? Andy Hollis is gathering data on drilled rotors: void area vs. swept area, weight savings, etc. They're trying to come up with a way to revamp the rotor rules so you don't end up with a takeback when you go to SP.

I think they're looking into making a limit to how much drilling you can do with rotors. That'll be fun to enforce.

Keep in mind this is not a rule change, just an unofficial precursor to possibly putting a rule change out for member comment.

I'd rather it was left alone, but if it has to change then I hope they can come up with something better than a minimum weight. I can't stand that hacked up seat rule with the completely arbitrary 25lb. min. on the seats.

I have 17x9.5" wheels. Any 245 tire on a 9.5" wheel the sidewall will be a little stretched. It seems most favor the 40 series, mostly for overall diameter and gearing.
Would you still choose a 40 series over a 45 for a 9.5" wheel?

If the the 9.5" width reduces a 45 series tire's overall diameter and sidewall height vs. a 40 series on a 9", how does handling and gearing compare?

Given the availability of of the Z1s in 40 series (back/special order, 45s no problem) vs. the availability of RE01 in 40 series (no problem in either size), which would you choose and why?

Hey guys - what's up?

Here's my deal. I ran STS last year ( '03 Lancer OZ ) I only participated in one event and then i got deployed to the Middle East. Two weeks after i got back my car got stolen. Long story short - car couldn't be fixed and then got a check from the insurance company. Bought an evo IX with the following mods...

JIC coilovers
K & N drop-in
Invidia o2 housing
JDM bumper

I recently ran my first event in the evo in BSP. Don't know if i belonged there tho. I've been reading the rules and it seems like my stuff is more suited for STU. I have stock rims and tires as well.

Do you guys think i should switch classes or stay in SP and ride it out ??

^^ your JDM rear bumper pushes out of STU b/c of the crash beam being removed.

is modifying the crash beam to fit the jdm rear illegal too? i would assume yes, as it means a loss of about one pound.

Yeah, modifying it at all is illegal. I don't even think it is SM legal.

I actually don't even think that is XP legal. That may bump you all the way to E-Mod. You could just run in STU, I doubt anyone would protest you at a local event. Or you could run in E-Mod and come in 1st (and last) every event.

40's. Its what everyone else runs for a reason. It also has more tread width than the 45 series. If you can wait for another month the Z1 Star Spec will be here and they'll have your size.

No doubt. 40 series every time.

hokiruu: I have both a 245/40 and 245/45 sitting in my garage. You're welcome to come down and try both back to back if you want. The 40 is faster every time.

EDIT: of course I drive to events on the 45 because it gets better gas mileage.
