you will see elevated temps - there was a suby here that rigged up a similar flat bottom.

Just be prepared for more frequent maintenance on the driveshaft, etc.

Or route the exhaust out the front =)

i'm no aero expert, but i always thought most canards were too small to make any appreciable difference to your downforce, especially on a 3000+ lbs car. i could see them producing another pair of vortices along the sides, maybe controlling some of that flow under the car. but no idea how much of an effect that has either. oh well, good luck! i like the kind of projects you're undertaking

The flatbottom looks great! I'd be very interested in this.... I already have the apr splitter too so it'd fit right up to my setup! :-)

Do the you track guys want black rivets also so they blend in...
I'll offer a dissenting opinion in that if I had a choice of subdued hardware compared to contrasting hardware, I'd choose the subdued. Just because it's a track car, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't look nice and clean.

Don't get me wrong.. I'd definitely choose function over form, but if it's all the same, I'm going with a set up that's sano.

Indeed it's funny that you think I'm a show&shine guy. Do those guys grab 2nd place in TTA at Infineon and not give a **** about the paint when they lose the right front in T1 at Thill?

Sorry to take the thread OT; I've been following it b/c I had splitter fabbed up back in Feb.

Dude, I don't know you or care if you are a show and shine or show and go.

The comment was related to the fact that people who put 20"s, neons and big subs in a slammed evo would care about the heat that may be kept under the car.

If you don't have that sort of equipment on your car and actually track it then you are not what I would call a show and shine guy. If you call yourself that and care about heat... whatever. It's fine by me.

I ran a full day at the track yesterday and came in and checked the temp of the undertray directly under the exhaust after each session. I always made a full cool down lap and when I got back to the pits the undertray was not even warm. Even after sitting in the paddock the undertray remained cool.

So there appears to be enough airflow to keep the undertray panel nice and cool. I'll still try and instrument the chassis and maybe the rear diff to see if temps are effected.

Unfortunately I was much to rusty (having been over a year since a track day) and not really knowing the line well enough to change aero configurations and compare lap times...

What about the underbody of the car? Any additional heat felt through the floor of the car? That's where I'd expect it to build up, if at all.
