silver state

Looking for suggestions for an upcoming build that i am starting. The goal of the car is to run gt (next year) gs and ss (in the fallowing years) at the silver state classic. We also plan on running in the standing mile and 0-100-0 competitions at silver state as well as the possibility of running in some tsd rallys. We have read all the rules and have a good idea what will be needed but are looking for suggestions on part selection.

If you have any suggestions on aero, cooling, tires, or anything else please feel free to fire away!

Doesn't Patrick (Vostek7) run high-speed events. He's a local guy.

Who's car is getting the love? You need the full flat-bottom from front to rear for a top speed car, with a good diffuser and some big front splitter to keep the thing planted. And a real rear wing.

If you want to talk details bring the rule book for whatever series the car will be built around yo.

Its gonna be mine

The car is mostly done as is, now its aero work and reselecting wheels and tires for the event. Cooling is the only other factor I have to get to and thats on the way.

Power- check

Suspension- check

the rest- unknown?

What suspension are you running? For the high-speed events you need to have really digressive curves for high-speed dampening so the shocks can blow-off the bumps without throwing the car off balance.

The car has H&R coilovers, rear strut and sway bars, and aftermarket control arms

Not sure if you've seen the physics of racing articles, but the linked one covers bumps in the road related to the Silver State Challenge.

A must read.

The suspension is currently 457# springs front and rear with TUV spec'd valving, stock front swaybar and 27mm rear. The coilovers didnt come from H&R USA for an VIII and then get thrown on my IX, they were euro spec IX coilovers I had them ship before they had a IX offering. They might not be valved to what I need still though, I need to figure out how to have it "legally" checked.

It is extremely predictable at speeds up to 140 with the aero stock out of the box even over rough roads (I have tested it prior just because of those articles). I am rereading all of those since its been awhile, thanks again.

Springs rates sound ok - not too stiff.

You might want to run stiffer rear springs (550 lbs) and a smaller rear bar to keep the wheels more active independently. The 27mm rear bar is going to couple the rear wheel movements more than a stock or 25mm rear bar.

I also have 2 positions on the bar and adjustable links so I have or can tune as need be. I do have it set pretty stiff right now though because I prefer oversteer to understeer

Anyone have any thoughts on keeping the tranny cool. With the high heat of the desert and the extended 125+ mph for 91 miles, i am a little worried.
