a driftbox can tell you alot
+1 on that...I used the Performance Box for the same reasons. I love the way you used Google Earth as an overlay though
Not only driving lines but braking points, lateral and londitudal G forces and cornering speeds are in there to be analyzed.
Those Racelogic things are worth their weight in gold for sure...especially for the price.

quite geeky but hey lol
just locate your track on google earth zoom in using (Alt) so that the extremes of the track are outer most points then save the pic as a jpeg from GE.
then in performance tools right click on graph and load the pic
or the other way export from performance box tools to GE. which saves a a kmz iirc.
then open GE and open the Kmz

Wow, that's freaking cool! Is it easy to get the scaling right so the overlay looks good? That data was from the drift box? I've looked at the performance box but it's like $420.
Not that difficult really...I would looove to use a google earth jpg as a circuit overlay but my track's not on GE yet...just a sand pit
If you're serious about analysing you car's performance then the performance or drift box are great since you get some hard data to use at least. Drift box is a little bit cooler I think since you can see your slip angles as well - not only in a drift-angle sense - you should be able to see where you're oversteering or understeering on a circuit as well
But yeah...uber geeky!
Still, the guys with proper datalogging systems in professional race cars are paying a whole lot more!

I once had an incident in a club rally after coming off after a chicane made of witches hats (cones) causing me to hit a kerb and destroy a rim.
Following weekend I did an autocross with an identical circuit to the autocross the month before. The difference between the two autocross times were 1.3seconds. I felt I drove the same and the car performed the same (same top speeds on the short straight etc). Trying different tyre pressures etc couldn't work out why I was slower as everyone else was on their pace thus eliminating weather or a dirty track. Left the track that day quite frustrated.
Went home that night and compared quickest run on the day to quickest run of the day last month. Found I was 24kph slower through the one chicane on the course loosing about 8 car lengths. Rest of the circuit were identical.
Thank you Performance Box. Without it, I would have been kicking myself and going back to get wheel alignments to make sure the car was setup how I expected it to be! Now I know I was only slower in the one spot and it was my subconscious taking over!

I hear you FranZ...I also use it as a tool to keep myself in check as much as to check on the car ...
Frustrating doing a personal best lap but still having a few slower split times on that lap compared to split times in the same area on some slightly slower overall laps....thanks to the PBox I know for a fact now that there's more time to be shaved on my best if only I can manage to string that perfect lap together!!!
Saves me mod money...no point spending more if you know you're not maxing out what you have already

Thinking about it though, it would be fun to use the DriftBox in the Evo on snow days!

If you have your own PDA, can build it up for under ~$100.
