It takes a big man to step up and take the blame like Vettel did, sucks that he gets a 10 spot penalty for it, as it was not 100% his fault.

I am no where near a MM and even less of a Hamilton fan, but congrats to Hamilton. He really ran a great race and did deserve the spot on the podium.

I agree with you notec, not sure about the Trulli incident, also, was it just me, or was it a bit unorganized with the time it took for the safety car to come out and the amount of laps it stayed out there in the middle of the race....was a bit surprising, also the running order when under caution (ie, when rubens slowed down when passing the safety car, looking confused..)... Maybe it was just first-race-of the season delays....I also agree that KERS should just be removed entirely....Should be a good year, the FIA looks as if it has accomplished its goal of making the pack stay together more closely for tighter races

Weird race. I like it.

A couple people I was with wondered about Trulli's pass, but it was so confusing... it seemed like there was only a local yellow but the SC was out.

I think the KERS is a good idea. It's a give and take. Of course, in a way, it's also typical of F1 - whine about wanting to cut costs, then add another new (and fairly expensive) system into the equation. I'm waiting for them to announce that the 2.4 V8 is too expensive so they need to develop 9 cylinder radials for 2011.

I meant to change my drivers and I never picked a team!!!! Oh well. As for the race I would agree with the general consensus and state that I thought the new rules served there designed purpose. I was so excited for Button and Ruebens.

What do you think will happen in regards to the rear diffusor? Do you think that everyone will appeal the rule in court or do you think that everyone will join the downforce and come up with a Brawn like diffusor aswell? Or perhaps both trying to be prepared for everything, IDK? I'm sure we will hear soon but what are you thoughts?

All the teams without it will be struggling getting everything else right with it (down force, balance, brake distribution...), the teams already running it will have their KERS working reliable, and minor other things tweaked.

I think KERS might be a track based decision, some track warranting it some not, on longer tracks the KERS might be not worth it due to the length of time you get to use the boost vs the amount of time you are accelerating, braking, and turning the extra weight.

The diffuser made such a huge difference, I have a hard time believing teams without it can be competitive race to race.

Agreed, the KERS is more of a benefit on technical tracks.

...and if I stopped reading threads backwards, I'd see that you've already said what I just did.

Yes, I think all the high budget teams will have the diffuser of Brawn-Type by next race weekend.

I also believe the high budget teams will have the super-diffuser by next race. It would only make sense. If it is deemed legal, then the other teams will have minimized the point spread damage, if it is deemed illegal, everyone will loose points across the board. Obviously, the latter would work out best for Hami.

It was interesting to see how drivers used the KERS system differently. Alonso would use it in the wider and higher speed corners while Hami would juice it on straits for the pass. Without a doubt, it was an awesome race.

I still don't agree with the Vettel decision. I strongly believe Kubica was at fault. Vettel had priority on corner entrance and stayed as far right as possible. Kubica caused the collision. Take a look at the early battle between Hami and Pequet Jr. Hami waited patiently for a clean pass. At one point he attempted a pass where Pequet slammed the door and Hami moved back. He eventually passed on the next lap. Kubica could have done the same thing if he was truly faster than Vettel. Vettel's $50K fine and 10 spot grid penalty was flat out harsh.

And revisiting my thoughts on the Trulli penalty, it looks as if it was unjust. I honestly believe he deserved 3rd place and a mistake was made. It seems videos of the incident are being reviewed closely. They should definitely give him back his 3rd place.

After watching it some more, I would agree on the Kubica/Vettel incident. Yes, it was a racing incident, but Kubica was a half car length behind at turn in and tried to force the issue. He faulted Vettel for understeering into him, but Vettel lost 10' of track because Kubica put his car there. If Kubica got the same penalty (10 grid spots, the money means nothing) I could understand.

35-40 KG, about 80 lbs, is the number that has been tossed around.

man, bet some execs at Honda HQ thought about committing seppuku when they saw the car they paid for finish both 1&2!

Good for Jens. Also for old man Rubinho. Too bad for Vettel. The tossing up of finishing order from last year bodes well for an interesting season. Now if only Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee (Max & Bernie) can be prevented from from f'ing up the sport any more, F1 may have a future after all...

I agree with the your opinion in the Vettel/Kubica incident however... If I recall correctly Hami wasn't able to pass PK until PK spun.... Just saying wasn't that Hami was out right faster... and that First attempt would have been a horrible move on LH's part, if for certian would have ended in a crash.

And Jarno deserved that poll man. The SC's antics in that race were confusing.
