That was a great race until the monsoon hit. I called it, I knew this was going to happen. Its a shame the race was ran so late in the day although I can understand why they do it.
I'm not very happy about the way Ferrari handled the weekend. First, Massa out in Q1, then putting Kimi out on full-wets 4 or so laps before the rain hit. *shakes head* WTF?!?

Shanghi in 2 weeks...

As much as i hate the tinkering it looks like f1 finally got the passing back in the racing. Was entertaining to watch for sure and the 'pack' faces competing for podium... well button and truli heidfeld taking the podium ? thats crazy talk

I am just worried that the cars are too loose and that something real bad might happen. Seams to be alot of corrections going on....

Also it was pretty cool to see the KERS in action. Specifically the part when Webber had a tow on Alonso and got side of him and started to pass but then Alonso hit the KERS and began to pull away.

that was sweet watching that. webber and alonzo passed back in forth about 6 times in two laps. thats more passes then all of last year

IMHO, they need to allow the use of KERs a little more, Eg: allow the driver to use it multiple times during the lap for 8 secs total ...

Next year when they have the kers rules fully in effect you would have to think that would be one of the things that they are considering.

I'm under the impression that not all teams have KERS, so it's a technical advantage.. Just watch for the light!

That is correct, but next year it will become required to have a KERS in your car

With KERS they should probably have 2 different min weight requirements, one for car with KERS and one for cars without KERS .... just to keep things fair ... thoughts?

Yes, there are two different weight requirements for both types of cars. The idea is the slightly heavier KERS equipped cars make up for their extra weight with the extra brief power boost. Some teams have come along and said that it can add .3 seconds per lap with the KERS system. But a few teams are doing just fine without it.

It is going to be an interesting season after these two wacky races.

I disagree do to the fact that you get to use kers for 6 seconds a lap while weight is something you always use. I think it would be a better idea to raise the minimum weight by 80 pounds to give those who are not using KERS this season 80 pounds of ballast to play with.

I don't know if I understood your post correctly Billy, are you saying all cars should have the same minimum weight?

Yes i am, but i feel that it should be 80 pounds higher then then current minimum weight. I dont feel that teams should be given an advantage over other teams just because they have not developed a usable KERS system. Using the additional 80 pounds as ballast instead, will make teams work for there advantage.

Agreed, they need to raise the min weight. I've never heard of two minimum weights, gokimigo, I think your wrong about that one. There is only one minimum weight in F1, 605kg or whatever it is. I really like that the FIA now publishes the weights of the cars after quali, it's an interesting little tid bit of info.

It is 605kg, 1305kg would be 2871lbs, LOL.

But yes I was incorrect, there is only one minimum weight. Don't know where I heard about two minimum weights.

I'm still on the fence about the whole thing. For me the best solution at this time would be to scrap KERS altogether until further development can be made in regards to safety, complexity and size. It is a very interesting concept that works well and adds some strategy on the drivers end. But it seems much too rushed to be successful.

I think it is cool how they show each car's weight as well from a spectators point of view. But makes it a bit easier for teams to figure out other teams strategies and plan their own accordingly. I will miss the mystique of wondering who was going to pit when and being surprised by certain strategies and decisions.

Can you imagine...
My bad, I was thinking it was around 1300lbs, I got the two mixed up...
