either tonight or saturday night i'll be getting the car ready for this sunday. got a few things to do:

thanks to josh (666 evo), we traded some parts for his DASH2 digital dash and DAQ. it has onboard GPS, accelerometers, a bunch of inputs for various signals, and a lap timer. i have to get it hooked up and running first though.

also got all the safety wire stuff and a jig for drilling the holes in the new bolts. that will be the first thing i do.

plan on fixing the oil leak as well (second most important thing to fix before going out).

and IF there is more time, i want to play around with the tune. i need to change the ROM it uses so i can have better boost control using the 3 port and be able to rev it to 8000+ (currently stuck at 7000). i might try swapping out MAFs, as i recently learned the evo 8 and 9 mafs are not the same and ahve different scaling values. this might be some of my weak idle issues (most of it is prolly the o2 housing falling off though )

no abs does make it interesting note to self, adding the missing abs sensor and clock spring back in

i'll get some in car videos up here ASAP. including the one where i pulled up nex to goofy at 100+ mph sideways :O (thats the abs reference hes talking about)

edit, and progress on the car: richard got the DASH2 all hooked up and running, then flashing it with new firmware it locked up so we are going to have to either send it in, or call and ask how to fix it.

i got all the o2 housing bolts drilled, cleaned the threads on the hotside and put my new stainless bolts in and safety wired them in there! guess what, none of them fell out

we put an exhaust on it to to make it a little quieter so it was easier to hear problems. but the exhaust we used was a bit to heavy for my taste (HKS carbon ti), but it was just something josh had sitting around. i think we will go to a 3: straight pipe instead.

i thought i had the small oil leak figured out, but apparently i don't thankfully it drips very slow so i'm not loosing any significant amounts of oil. just gives everything a nice flim to it around the oil filter housing.

and the next thing i do to the car before taking it out will be installing the cage the off pointed out why its important to have safety... i could have rolled pretty easily.

Do you have any pictures of the safety wiring? I need to do that as well, I'm also a member of the loose O2 housing bolts club. I have one that I have to replace after every track day.

hmmm i left the car on the trailer and the tire rack is directly over the hood. i'll see what i can do about trying to get a picture for you, but it might be a few days. i need to get one more car out of the shop before i can take the race car off the trailer and park them both inside.

picture from the off (only things broken were the zip ties holding it on, and one tab with the bolt holding it to the core support):

after getting the bumper fixed back up and the car cleaned off:

here is a video from the first lap of the last session when the car was still running good, and jsut getting warmed up

Awesome dude - great build story! I remember you showing me this car, barebones on the side of the your new shop, back in June... and now you have it on the track. Were you at MSR?

ok, finally!!! here is the video of the 100+ mph off.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Digc9rrA1Os

and here is the brief open session i got at the end. cliffs notes:
i was taking it VERY easy because of the off and not having a roll cage and all.
after first lap i passed the civic after he waved me past, which happened to be at ayellow flag for the yellow ferrari that went off.
after passing the yellow ferrari, i was black flagged for passing the civic
i pitted and discussed it
then after a decent lap i get behind the porsche and the car started running super lean and wouldn't go (double pumper issue i believe). thats when i stop the video.

Did one of the bumps on the straight unsettle the car? Looks fun after the fact....

Very interesting read and I can't wait to see how my future build concludes. I'll be looking forward to your call tomorrow as I've been doing some reading and would like to discuss options and realistic routes.

Glad nobody got hurt with the the off course, that track kinda looks like it was stitched together with patches.

That part throttle BOV flutter would drive me crazy, or is that more of a function of the larger turbo wanting to spool more as you let off the gas?
