EVOLUTION DYNAMICS unlimited Time Attack Build!
well, i'm about to move on the cage and stuff to get it ready for the first NASA event in the end of january.
heres whats to come in the near future (like 1-2 weeks):
80ft of 1.75" DOM tubing .095" thickness.
some plate for the bases
a tube bender
a fire system
a FIA FT3 certified 10gal fuel cell
weldon fuel pump
new AN lines and fittings
window net
quick release wheel finally
new helmet (mines only SA2000 certified)
head and neck restraight system
fire suit
mount the R6's on the wheels
electrical kill switch
tow hooks
sheet metal dash with the nessesary switches, and gauges.
i'm going to wait on the carbon roof until after the first event, and much of the aero will have to wait as well (undertray, splitter, and GTC-300 wing). this stuff gets expensive so i'm trying to spread it out till after tax time
maybe its time to try and pick up some sponsors
i do have the AMS mustache eliminator waiting to go on, i have the adjustable fuel pressure regulator and surge tank, as well as an external FP for feeding the surge tank. the dash 2 needs to be reflashed and get operating properly.

texas is huge.... like... mega huge (thing most of the 13 colonies big). You'll have to narrow it down a bit
For perspective, I can get on 1 single highway from here and drive 10+ hours and still be on the same road in Texas. And I'm a hour into the state to begin with.

we don't have an unlimited budget unfortunately so buying a 25k dollar car and totally destroying it wouldn't be a good financial decision. we started with a rolling shell i got for less then 2k (literally got it for free, just traded a bunch of labor). i've built the car to where it is now for still less then had i started by purchasing a X (used or new, completely stock).
we will race this car and see where we want to go from there.
a bunch of updates as of tonight:
1) the DASH2 digital dash was sent in for repairs and had to be sent back to england to get fix. should have it back shortly.
2) ordered a bunch of the little safety stuff, window net, power kill switch, 14" convex mirror, tow hooks, stickers for tow hook and kill switch, and a much needed battery tender.
3) ordered the fuel cell, but it will be a couple weeks before we see that (so i needed to order it today so i have it before the 13th of march).
4)jim finished cutting up all the doors to the first stage of weight reduction. today on the driver door alone he took off 10 pounds of metal. once everything else is good to go we might speed hole the doors.

5) took out the insulation against the firewall. it weighs 12lbs 10oz.

6) took out the sound deadening. it was surprisingly easy to take out. it came out in big chunks with nothing but a hammer and crow bar. i weighed most of it (still have the rear wheel well pieces to take out. everything else combined was 11lbs.

7) richards started ripping out the interior wiring to make a race harness that has only the stuff we need. with one section of the harness alone he took out 3 lbs. there is literally 90% more of the harness to go through. should be pretty significant weight savings there too.

8)getting ready to start bending the tubes for the cage. we hope to have the cage in this week, and paint the interior either friday night or monday night. put the interior back together, then give it another shake down on the 20th.

9)rear window and all the side windows have been removed and the 1/8th in lexan is in stock ready to be picked up.
heres whats left of the interior

weight reduction is going along good so far. the quartermaster clutch took 19lbs out over the exedy twin. i think the car as it sits now has got to be close to 2480-2500lbs. i still have to get a two piece driveshaft and the carbon roof. beyond that i don't think there is much more to come out. the cage will add some weight back in obviously. there will be weight added back in for the full undertray and rear diffuser, the rear wing will be heavier then stock, and then eventually bigger wheels.
