How much power is enough for an Track evo 9?

Hello new member on EvoM. i have be reading this forum for about a year until i decided to join. i am on the same name from Club4g.org...hopefully i posted on the right section lol

I recently bought an 2006 evo9 MR from south coast mitsubishi and it will be shipped to Toronto, Canada by Christmas...

car comes with a HKS HI Power Catback...and yes i will be modding the car as soon as its infront of my door :P

i want this evo as a Daily Driver as well as the weekend track car in the summer.
Here is my mod list so far:

Road Race Engineering
MR turbo o/2 housing - $130
Walbro 255 LPH High Pressure Fuel Pump - $90
Zeitronix ZT-2 DashDaq Full 35psi Boost-EGT Pkg - $875.00

Ultimate Racing
cone filter intake - $85
3" downpipe - $325

and a custom 3" resonated test pipe i well get done at a local exhaust shop

i will get my car tuned at Magnus Motorsports in Toronto. $800 bucks for there ECU flash and custom tuning

w/ these mods i hope to hit 300whp on 94 octane(hopefully more). Since i own a 4g eclipse gt v6, i have bought many parts from RRE and Mike from RRE has given me alot of help on both eclipse and evo. I have picked Ultimate Racing parts because they are a local toronto shop and i dont have to pay for shipping and crazy canadian taxes.

P.S. i know i dont need the cone filter intake until 400whp, but i want the stock BOV to be louder ok?

i am planning to take this car to about 400-450whp (as much as the stock block can take) within the next couple years

My question is how much power is too much for a track evo? i dont want an insane 8 second drag car...like can you really do track circuit w/ a 500whp evo? i am thinking that lag on a Big turbo will not be good on the track...

thanks

. I think personally you should try out the fp hta green or the bbk full. Both offer great power and spool fast. There are many factors to consider when making a track car.

That's not true.

My car makes almost 500 whp and it is scary as hell on my local track - it's simply too fast for the amount of safety equipment in it.

So it depends on your skills behind the wheel, and how safe your local track is. A track with lots of run-out, and simple sections can be driven in a high horsepower car without too much risk. But a technical track, without run-off is high-risk in a big power car because the speeds ramp up wicked fast.

If it's your daily driver then take it easy. Put in the basic stuff. Do your exhaust, intake, cams, and a Green or BBK and stop there for power. Get good brakes, suspension, harnesses, seat lowering brackets, and a budget for tires and track days.

Well in your case, the driver is the limiting factor. Not the car having "too much power", lmao

For a daily driver/track Evo, stock is enough. Seriously. Sounds like you're doing HPDEs, I can't really tell your experience from your post. The fact that you're concerned about power and not suspension is troubling.

Also, spending that much for a tune is pretty silly. I'm sure there's plenty of locals in a big city like Ontario who know how to tune for a lot less, which means more money for track days.

It really depends on the driver, but the avg is approx any where from 350 - 450 whp. For track set ups its more important to pay attention to wheels/tires /suspension/braking, cooling, and aero that includes weight reduction.
As for a turbo go no bigger than a 35R.

Wow, that is a LOT for a tune, even if it has dyno time. I had mine custom dyno tuned and i think I paid a little more than half that, and they even did a tweak pull/adjustment a few weeks later. Focus on pads and suspension first off, until you get used to the track and driving it, then add power to adjust to your driving style. I would say, coil overs or good springs are a start, then pads and rotors, tires, and then focus on the power mods..

im in the process of making my car 400ish whp with the BBK, but before i throw that in, im doing the coilovers, brakes, and a cage... no need for power with nothing to stop it or suspension that cant handle it... start with suspension, then brakes, then boltons, then turbo

Yeah I'd really look at suspension work - the diffs, rear diff, bushings!!, and coilovers etc.

i figure im not going to do suspension mods until after intake, 3" TBE, fuel pump and tune.

maybe some motor mounts, lowered springs and a rear sway bar...for braking, i think the stock brembos are more than enuf for 300whp.

LOL i thought proper tires and pads were a given. and no im not a noob

i wanna drive the car with a stock suspension for a while, and for power...well u can never have too much power

350-400whp was what i thought would be "trackable"...anything higher i think it will sacrifice quick spool for top end power.

2.3L + GT3076R? i got that from your profile...i guess thats a good combination for spool, but u made 500whp on a gt3076r?!?!?

From his profile it looks like he is using E85, so those numbers seem somewhat reasonable.

Thats not necessarily true. You can still make up to around 500 whp with a quick spooling turbo. I am at 475ish now with more to give. I just need a double pump setup, new exhaust mani and maybe some changes on the intake manifold and I will be there. Granted, you'll need E-85 or some race gas, but you will be there, CRAZY fast spool, and the top end to back it up. Ultimate street/track setup.

Do this. On a stock block the most you need and can take - hta green. 500whp and a big turbo will be a turd (trust me I know), you will need that spool.

on a stock 2.0L how much power will a FP HTA green make on pump gas? and why not a FP Red?
