Australian Superlap 2010 - World Time Attack Challenge
The Cyber EVO has years of set-up time invested and a crap tone of development behind it. I mean Voltex has been building brand new aero a few times a year just for it - for years now. They do know which components needs attention, and which don't; for a few quick laps. Sounds like SSE came to grips with that, after seeing this.
I wouldn't feel bad to loose to the Cyber EVO, It's probably the most tracked time attack EVO in the world. It's always getting updates and testing. The HKS car sits around most of the time.

Stock Bembos are all you need for time attack's limited # of laps. 6 Piston calipers are for endurance racing for hours of extended use. Stock Brembos are the largest 4 piston calipers available, they are huge and will lock up any size tire you can fit under the car. We have become very spoiled with our affordable super cars!
Hi Guys,
I have to say we have some great evo's on Oz but we truly had our ***** handed to us by SEE and the Jap cars. Just looking at the $$$ in development we have plenty of catching up to do........
The event went off and felt like it had more in attendance than our largest car series in Oz which is the v8 Supercars.
Time attack is getting bigger and bigger for us, unfortunately we keep loosing race tracks to population growth and ignorant governments who spruker the issues of street racing etc and then turn our race tracks into houses??? go figure.
It will be great to see the success of this event in the hope that more of you guys will see the value in bringing your insane cars down under as I can list a number of mates cars that are pretty wild for OZ that have just tasted a bitter pill and didn't like it too much
Who knows maybe a few of us can even reciprocate and bring our toys stateside for a TA event. We've been talking about shipping the cars to Europe for a week at the big tracks like the Nurberg' and the like.
If you have time look up some more details on the better TA Evo's here in the reader rides on evoOz - http://www.evolutionoz.net/forums/in...p?showforum=33
Love to here some feedback on the Oz evo's listed on the site.
Cheers
Andrew

Uh.... I'd like to see you try to build the Cyber Evo in your garage.
Yes, the SSE weighs 300-400lbs more than the Cyber Evo. You wonder why? Safety comes to mind. They have a proper racing roll-cage made of proper strength materials.
The Japanese time attack cars tend to not have safety as a top concern, at least based on some of my observations. Some of them use thinner wall tubing for their cages to save weight. How about that fuel setup in the one FD right next to the driver? Would you want to be racing in that car? I wouldn't.
Speaking of safetly, you like how the rear wing failed on the Cyber Evo? That's because it was mounted to a flimsy-***, lightweigt (too light weight apparently) trunk. If that wing had failed in a high speed corner, that car would be a wad of metal.

Once again I always have laughed at the safety and aero on some Japanese time attack cars. Another simple fact of the matter is it is an equation that they have mastered. The Japanese time attack guys will optimize a car to go as fast as possible with little regard for much else.
And I saw the wing failure coming.. Besides I had drawn out a cage structure for my evo WITH the rear wing mounted to it over 3 years ago. It was nice to see something similar on SSE's car a year later to convince me that my ideas where on the right path.
I know for a fact when my car is payed off and I start carrying out all my self taught learning on it that the car will be lighter then what the SSE car is now AND still meet the safety requirement of most wheel to wheel series.
Will it be faster? No. Although one day I hope to run in the low 40's at BW.
For me it is all about balance and not re-engineering certain things that dont need to be, all the while being mindfull of items that do need to be changed.
Yes, years of refinement do help but lets not forget that SSE is testing almost monthly, most likely multiple times a month. Making changes and optimizing.
I am flat amazed with Cusco/tomei's Subaru... that thing is down 100+ whp on SSE and Cybers car and yet it was only a .10 and 1 second off of each respectively.
To me that car is a genuine showing of a balanced machine and with some more optimization it should be right at the top. (they still need to mount the damn wing to a solid point on the chassis though
)Just my 2 cents guys... I am not all knowing just sharing my thoughts on the subject.

It's amazing something more catastrophic didn't happen losing that wing at that speed. I've seen cars flip when aero over compensates when another piece is abruptly taken off like that.
