All 4 Wheels Pop off at the Same Time at AX!!

Very funny video of all wheels popping off at he same time at the AX! I still can't believe it happened like that. C'mon - I had forgotten to torque one of my wheels once and it started vibrating really bad - even when I checked it and torqued it, it had not moved THAT much. Wouldn't all the lug nuts take a while to pop out and do it at a different pace? Unless they all sheered off at the same time but that's just plain odd...

Yeah that video has got to be close to 10 years old. But always a good one!

this is as old as the internets itself, but I still get a chuckle when I watch it.

What I heard was that the driver used the incorrect style lug nuts for his wheels (smaller acorn style instead of the larger acorn style), thats why ALL FOUR wheels came off at one time. Spacers had nothing to do with it.

+1, he used the wrong size threads on the lug nuts.

The fact is, it is not proven it was a lug nut neither a spacer.
I saw a same thing, but ony two rear wheels accident when a driver pulled the e-brake and lost both rear wheel at a same time. LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGPYWtd76l0
The lug nut idea is very unlikely for me, since the wheels would still sit on the studs , there lierally 0 chance to loose them at a same 3 second. He didn't even go that far from a start.
The inside wheels in the turn would defenietly stay on in my mind.
I can't see the lug nut case in 4 wheels at low speed hard turn at the exactly same time.
Besides, how the hell get loose 20 or 16 lug nut and let it go at the exactly same seconds ?
I am not saying it was a spacer . But seems to me much more realistic, since when the outside lets it go the rest of the car gives a hard shock for the inside ones, so it is possible the too much sterss for all for a same short period of time to let go virtually a same time.

But what ever is a good story and a same time scary, what an ididots are actually on the track sime times, including scrutineers and organizers. LOL

Edit: because i was proven wrong by the video:
oke i was proven wrong LOL i watched the video and this is a different one what i saw before. Here is actually can see the aftermath and no spacer. So it can be happening with all the 4 wheels and 16 lug nuts at the same time LOL
Before this, i saw accidents like this only with spacers , now i saw it with lug nuts. By the way if its a wrong size of lug nuts, how you put it on?

Older than time itself. Last I heard, he bought the wrong thread lug nut thus the weren't actually on. Trying to analyze it is a waste of time though since all we have is an amusing video to go. It's like trying to figure out why someone's engine blew up using some crappy audio recording from the 1980s.

Different pitch threads, effectively crossthreading? Or they didn't go into the hub far enough where only a thread or two was biting?

Dunno, funny video though.
