Perhaps it was published on April 25.
Why does this ( http://www.scca.com/downloads/ ) page still have it? To confuse me.

Of course!
I don't know what I was thinking going to the place with the old rules. I need the new ones.. Not the old ones. New rules, new link.

I will be in this year after taking 2011 to run STR (and FP at Nats)... I bought Ranvek's old Evo IX and will probably be making some minor tweaks to it, but for the most part I'll just be driving.

Not sure what Pros and Tours I'll be doing yet... I'm not a huge fan of the schedule and the budget is going to be relatively tight, so it's likely I'll be taking it easy. I'm going to Nats for sure, but it's all the other stuff I don't know about yet.

I have a stu rules question, motor mounts, specifically the transmissions roll stopper and the transmission mount. I want to replace them with aftermarket mounts, i.e. billet aluminum mounts/frames with poly bushing inserts. If I'm reading the rules correctly should be a non issue as long as the amount of "rubber and metal" in the new mount is the same as the old, the material of the mount shouldn't matter correct?

Time to poke the bee hive.

Nothing big planned for this year really. Picking up some Girodisc rotors for weight savings along with finally getting to the brake lines. Also going to get a 100 octane STU tune, just need to figure out where to get it on a pseudo regular basis. Oh yeah, I also need to finally install the shift kit that I got last year.

As far as events, definitely the DC Pro, Toledo Pro, Meadowlands Tour, and probably Spring Nationals...in addition to Nationals/Pro Finale of course. Perhaps some more events if I can work it out, such as the Evo Shootouts. Might even be really crazy and try to pick up a ride for the Packwood Tour or Pro. We'll see, but I definitely want to get some seat time at big events. The one thing that holds me back (other than short gearing) is myself.

The new fastrack mentions some new ST bushing allowances, and I think I read that motor bushings are open now, so may want to check it.

Edited and added link: http://www.scca.com/assets/12-fastrack-feb-solo.pdf

Also if anyone needs one, we're getting in a batch of our 100cell race-cats, that all the national championship winning STU evos use.

The fastrack proposal is only for engine/transmission mounts, and it would allow solid mounts, but they couldn't be lighter than stock.

Anybody with off-the-shelf replacement mounts know how the weight of those mounts compares to stock? If they're lighter, that could be a problem for quite a few people.

Thanks Ben, I'll correct my post and add a fastrack link.

All aftermarket mounts (complete mounts and bushings) I've seen are made of aluminum - so their gonna be lighter guaranteed.
Reading that proposal, it would outlaw any mount that weights less than stock - well hello! -the inserts that most of us use are lighter than the stock rubber mount - so no mount would be legal unless you added ballast This reminds me of the 'no rotor that weighs less than stock' rule they tried to pass .... So that proposal needs to be struck down!

hey guys,

read the latest fast track at work today and wondered the same thing as you are all pointing out - ballast or stock mounts? why change this rule?

this will be the first full year in the EVO, looking forward to it. gotta do the rear diff, then a more aggressive tune maybe. still working on keeping the inside rear down as well.

planning on CO, NM, El Toro, spring nats and nats. maybe on SD and Packwood see how the $ holds out.

Looking forward to it.

Kevin

With regards to the brake rotor rules, the latest ST rules were prompted specifically by the ultralight rotors GiroDisc made up for me and a few others to use in SP and SM. They are OEM diameter and overall thickness, but the walls and cooling vanes were thinner on the inside to reduce weight. Someone got their panties in a bunch and got them banned for ST because of "safety" reasons. You know - we have to protect the innocent bystanders from the rash of exploding brake rotors that have take so many lives at AX events over the past few year!

/end rant

Exactly why I was asking the question, because my plan was to swap out the 6 speed tranny mount that weights 6.5 pounds with a billet aluminum version effectively saving 4 pounds up front. So now that is no dice?

If I'm reading this correctly this is currently a proposal, so no change in the rule yet. Who do we email to make our voices heard?

Thanks
