Pirana, Can I ask how you did that to the rear seat. Professionally modified by the upholsterer?

I did the cutting of the support rods and the foam trim....so I'm the one that messed up the actual position of the notch(sp?). Then I took it to the upholsterer and told him to finish the trim. It was quick and easy. Got charge $100

Hey guys, looking into getting a roll bar but due in part to my ride (look left) no company makes one, so I have a request. Could somebody get the width of the mounting plates and height of the main hoop, and the length of the 2 rear brace pieces? It would be of great help! Thanks!

OK, my non EVO Friend. Went out in the garage to measure

AP Bar no. 61952 (non sunroof)

From base to base (far outside to outside of the feet) = Approx 48"
Main hoop height = Approx 47"
The rear diagonals to the rear wheel well = Approx 31"

So I have yet to read through the entire thread and am about to ask what may be considered a stupid question but here it goes anyway.

I am interested in the race roll bar part #60951 according to this list: http://www.autopowerindustries.com/applicationlist.asp

It appears that the desired bar is the sunroof model as it allows for additional clearance for thicker and wider mounting plates.

Im my case I have an SSL and would like to keep the headliner as well as reinforce the bottom. The obvious choice would be the sunroof model but I am looking at picking one up and I'm not sure if its the standard or sunroof model...

So my first question is, has anyone fit a non sunroof rollbar in their sunroof equipped evo? I'm guessing not and if it did I'm going to assume that the headliner needed to be removed?

Has it been noted how much shorter the sunroof version is relative to the standard version?

Is there any marking on the bar with a part # or other easy way to verify which version is which?

Im gunna give Autopower a shout in a little while but figured I'd ask on here since you folks should be able to relate specifically to my request given that you have the same vehicle.

Thanks in advance!

There is a stamped marking on top of one of the feet of the main hoop with the catalog number.

I got mine installed along with new seats and 6-pt harnesses this last weekend. I used the sunroof model with 1/8" carbon steel floor plates. I also ended up replacing the rear brace bolts with clevis pins. I don't think threaded bolts in that location are a good idea. We will see if any tech inspections have anything to say about using clevis pins.

Awesome, thanks for the prompt response. Given that you purchased the sunroof model can you comment on what model number yours states? How does it reference the sunroof edition as their website doesnt state different model numbers...

I bought it from a local who advertised it as the sunroof edition and they have a sunroof on their Evo. I can take a look at the stamp when I get a chance today and let you know the number. The numbers of the roll bars are floating around on this forum somewhere. Notably, from an Evo X guy buying an RX-7 roll bar and trying to fit it in their car. The thread should be somewhere in the Motorsports section.

Cool, thanks! I will take a look around and see what I can dig up and report back. I still plan to call Autopower as well as they should have additional info as their site doesnt have any indication of different models which we know is not the case.

It appears that I was mistaken. I had thought that I saw a stamping on one of the brace feet. I did not see one today when I looked. Sorry about that.

Here is the thread with part numbers: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mo...-question.html

Thank you so much for taking a look at that as well as finding the thread. I called Autopower yesterday and the contact also mentioned a part # stamped on one of the feet. Maybe its on the bottom of the feet or yours had been cleaned up and painted thus making it impossible to find?

As to the difference in part numbers the sunroof edition is noted with an "S" at the end. I also was told that the sunroof model is 1.5" shorter than the standard version.

Does anybody with a sunroof have this rollbar installed? I'm curious as to how close it is to the headliner.

Oh and one more thing. Im still not sure whether I would be keeping my stock seat belts since its still a daily driver.

I would like to have harnesses and the stock belts if possible. So my question is in regards to air bags. What are people's thoughts on air bags with harnesses? I would like to keep my air bags( DD with stock seatbelts on the road) and since I only autox use the harnesses then.

The other thing I thought about is that if I still have air bags but I am wearing the harnesses what would I do about the seat belt warning? Im thinking of picking up something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1X-CARBON-FIBER-SAFETY-BELT-WARNING-CANCELER-INSERT-NULL-ELIMINATOR-FIT-MOST-CAR-/181346184229?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AMitsubishi&hash=item2a39132c25&vxp=mtr
That will get rid of the warning obviously but Im not sure if I want air bags going off while wearing harnesses as Im not sure if they play nicely or not...

Heres my old system which I could have used the stock belts or my tuner belts
I used the Schroth Autocontrol but Auto-x'rs use the Schroth Rally belts which are connected in a similar fashion & you can switch over to the stockers or the turner belts in a snap

I like that dummy connector to shut down the seat belt sensor. I use a different method to shut my seat belt light off

Well I recently picked up this exact setup shown here: https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...514b06b9c890ef

I dont really like the idea of a harness bar but I wanted something that'll hold me better in my seat than what I had previously been using (CG Lock)

So anyway I already have the harnesses Schroth Profi II ASM FE which are paired with my quick release harness bar but I'm now thinking that having a back seat may not be all that important to me anymore, hence the recent interest in something like the autopower bar to mount my harnesses as it should add a little more safetly over the harness bar.

The seatbelt clip thing was just a thought so I can still use my stock belts while dd'ing and leave the airbags alone but allow me to wear the harnesses without having that annoying beeping during an autox run.

I just don't know if airbags plus harnesses are a no go in which case I need something to disable the airbags when I am using my harnesses.
