What do you guys think of Pirelli changing the tire starting in Canada? Reverting back to more of the 2012 spec.

I think its terrible move. The tires are the same for everyone, let the engineers figure out how to use them best.

If it were Ferrari crying about the tires, everyone would be up in arms saying how they're just being catered too. The backlash would be immense.

Tires have been the story of the season. That's not a great thing for F1.

Changing the tires mid stream doesn't benefit the teams; as they now must redo all the work they've done figuring out the 2013 tires. Yes they have data from 2012, but not with the current chassis.

Not really sure I like the decision... seems over reactive.

The higher ups in F1 don't mind if the teams will have to undo everything they've learned about these tires. It will shake things up and make for some interesting races and drama with the new tires which they like.

You mean the first 5 races weren't crazy enough? 3 different winners from 3 different teams, pole sitters getting lapped, top teams (McLaren) struggling, former backmarkers scoring points (FI), massively different pit strategies, drivers *****ing over the radio, etc...

Resetting the tire designs to last year won't improve on that, it'll probably just cut back on the drivers *****ing on the radio.

Oh trust me I agree with you but f1 always seems to make weird decisions. I think there are many rules governing the cars that need to be addressed as well. The season has definitely been great so far. I'm really interested to see what is going to happen with Webber at the end of the season and who might take his seat. Some are saying kimi will take it but can Sebastian handle it? I'm happy as hell I found this thread. I don't get to talk F1 very often!

Guys, don't forget Friday is a quiet day in Monaco, FP1 and FP2 are both held on Thursday.

wow, hope the race is going to be as good as quali. too bad for rogro for bad timing on q2. he would have qualify pretty strong in q3. wtf is wrong with massa, crashing the car twice in the same corner. would be sweet if they start the race in the damp tomorrow, then dry out half way.

Haven't really seen the f1 discussion much this year and haven't read through it, but I seem to remember someone in here last year loved Kobay, and was disappointed when he didn't get a ride this year. Well (if I'm right) here's some good news for you.

Pretty boring race other than the few big crashes... have to expect that at Monaco. Pissed to see dumbass Perez crash into the back of Kimi, he was never gonna make that happen for that far back. Bad enough the other times he tired to get by and couldn't make it work. Awesome that Kimi was able to get back into the points at the end, still sucks though.
Best quote of the weekend is from Raikkonen when asked if the drivers should have a talk with Perez about his driving he replied "No, that won't help". "Maybe someone should punch him in the face". Awesome!

I'm more intrigued by this whole secret tire test Merc had with Pirelli at Barcelona in teh days following the GP there. Merc put in 1000km's with both Rosberg and Hami driving the cars.. Shady!!!!

Merc gets a tire test, and suddenly they're getting the best tire wear in the field... nope, not at all shady.

Also, RBR got hosed by the first safety car. Both Vettel and Webber should have been ahead of Rosberg.

Nice run by Sutil. Good recovery by Kimi to salvage a point. Otherwise a pretty meh race, typical Monaco.
