IMHO - we still need to show up in the best numbers/effort we can, so that we matter as a demographic. Otherwise it will be too easy to write off the buggies with "well, you're not as fast as Borg / Barbato / Heikotter / etc etc so don't blame the tires".

I mean, I would be happy to contribute to any kind of Science (tm) I can... if an Evo on 245's is truly as fast as a Z/C5 on 285s, on concrete, on a normal national course, with the same driver, then cool. I just kind of doubt that that's the case

I'm loosely planning on making my first trek to Fall Nats this year, running in STU. I'm a hack of a driver so I'd be happy to finish in the top half of the class, but the car is extremely well-prepped and will feature some new go-faster parts from BassicFun, so I may offer the car up for a co-drive to a better driver than myself.

Add in '14 BS champ Lane Borg and you've got a Battle Royal waiting to happen in STU!

I saw Lanes' build on the vette forums, very thought out car. Looks like there could be 7 C5s, and 5-6 350Zs out there. Nats could be fun, wish we had m0ar tire!

How many people in this thread compete in track events (mostly autox) and have removed their ACD systems and went with a none acd Tcase?

I am looking for feedback on your experience?
If you had to do it again would you?

Im revamping my evo currently, and will either be moving the acd to the trunk or removing all together.

Also Will there be a 2015 STU discussion thread created?

Hi,

ACD changes are not allowed in SCCA STU Solo, so probably best to start a new thread to get input?

Aren't you allowed to remove ayc though, and upgrade the diff? I can't remember.

Anyone in STU get rid of AYC?

AYC is strictly EVO X bussines over in States and those didn't fare well so far in STU purely due to the overall weight.

Now whether your car will be faster without it is still up in the air and I have not seen any significant test that prove this one way or another. Me believes that AYC with programing better than stock would be great improvement over anything else still stands. With stock programing, unless it starts to break due to inability to handle all the power that was sent there, it will remain where it is right now!

I don't know how the X is in nationals, but in local events my X is very capable. If i was a better driver i'm positive i'd be winning each event, cause i'm pretty close to top times. Its not even built to the max of class rules. I'd like to see what someone else can do with my car....

Edit, I apologize guys.. I should have explained this. I participate in "SM" due to having cams. Looking over the rules for SM I do not see anything that jumps out at me saying it is not allowed.

Can you further explain the restriction to ACD Changes?

without really reading the rule book, I was under the impression we can "updating/backdating" to say a 03-04 evo and run those parts?

Hence 03-04 T case 05-06 center diff? I could eliminate my ACD/ eliminate some weight and still be running OEM parts from 03-06?

My questions are regarding solo autox, so I felt this is the best place to post.

Drew.

As you can see, this is STU thread, so anything SM most likely wouldn't apply in here.

And, for SM, you can pretty much do anything you want. If you think rear diff from GTR for example would be better for your EVO, rules wise you would be OK.
