They might fit with a +38 offset wheel. On the +35 my fenders are pulled some and its snug. It's also really hard to roll the Evo fenders without changing the outside profile..

With a flat roll they should fit just fine. I fit 18x10 +33 with 285/30/18 Hoosiers with just a roll back in the day.

I found a few anecdotes from people who made 17x10 +38 RPF-1s fit with some fender rolling and appropriate spacers. I'm half tempted to buy a 17x10 set for autocross next year and use the 17x9.5 set for daily driver duty.

what tire? the 255 Bridgestone would be pretty ridiculously stretched on a 17x10, imho.

I'm debating between 18x9.5 or 18x10. ....for Bridgestone's 265s

I ran 255s Dunlop ZIIs on a 17x10 no problem. The 255s are pretty dang wide as is, there's only the slightest stretch. I'm sure I have a pic somewhere of it.

Edit: Here you go.

/\ that looks good
but, yeah, these days.. pretty sure the ZIIs aren't going to do you any favors. or would the extra width make up for lack of stick? I'm gonna guess, no

Those were used for local events where I didn't really care to waste hoosiers. I did about two seasons with them and they were good enough but hated heat. I sold those a last year and have 275 Toyo RA-1s for local and track days.

Will the 10's fit in the rear? I vaguely remember *SP cars running 18x9.5s all around because of rear clearance issues.

Have in mind that RE71s run a bit bigger than the rest, so you might have even more tighter fit with them...

The RE71Rs that I have seen/tested were narrower than the others.

Rival > *Spec > RE71R

oh, and a 245/40/17 *Spec was slightly wider than a 255/40/17 RE71R, (as witnessed on 9" wide wheels).

Yeah 10s fit in the rear no problem. I ran 18x10 w/ 285/30 back in the day with just an STU legal roll.

Bridgestone has the tread width of the 255/40R17 specified as 9.6" (on a 9" wheel) vs. 8.6" (on an 8.5" wheel) for the 245/40R17. The 245/40R17 already fits well on my 9.5" wheels, so if the 255 is really a full inch wider at the tread than the 245 then the 10" wheels make a lot of sense. If they fit, that is, which I'm still not 100% convinced of.

They also have the wheel width range for the 255/40R17 listed as 8.5"-10.0", so even Bridgestone thinks it's fine.

Strangely enough, the tread width on your 265/35R18s is listed as 9.5" as measured on a 9.5" wheel, which is 0.1" narrower than the 255/40R17 on a narrower wheel for whatever reason. Or maybe these specs are all just wrong.

On the other hand, I'll probably be quite upset if we get 265s in STU and the next must-have tire is actually larger in some 18" wheel size.

interesting note.. I'm running older * Specs on the stock 17x8s in 245/40-17, maybe I should just run the 255/40-17 RE71Rs next. That said, pretty pricey - 245/45-17s are a little cheaper and a little more gearing. been finding I've been riding the rev limiter a lot at courses lately..

We need all the tire width we can get, so the 255/40R17 will still likely be the better option here.

I've been on the limiter in a few spots at our bigger sites lately too. Digging through the old STU threads, I found a few posts from people running a higher 7800 RPM rev limit. I may try my luck with that next season.

I've run a 7800 RPM rev limit the past 2 seasons, no issues at all (especially this year, when we were on the limiter frequently at almost every event). Top speed in second with 245/40/17s was about 63-64 MPH. However, after Nationals I dropped the limiter back down to 7500 RPM for longevity purposes (car has 126k miles ) but will crank it back up for National events.
