If I'm going over 180° around town, I'm assuming that means my thermostat isn't working?

Or I'm reading from the wrong side of the OFH.

With shipping to the west coast it was about $72USD. They have to order it from japan so said it would take about 10 days to get to them and then they would ship it to me. Ordered on Sept 28th, delivered today on the 13th of October. They were very good on communication and updates and it was carefully packed. Not sure when I will get it on the car since it's going on with a track only OEM VIII bumper so won't be for months at least.
And here it is all installed:

The VIII bumper is a bit different than the IV bumper (VI is flatter in these reason). So there was a little massaging that needs to be done. Funny enough to show how consistent Mitsubishi has been with their bumper attachments, the part is intended to dodge around a bolt on the VI....same bolt is present and dodged on the VIII.

However since none of my vids apparently caught my old oil temps I won't have a good before/after when I start tracking in a month's time. Hopefully if someone else does this they will have the data to prove/disprove it's usefulness.

For $75, I'd give it a shot. Not bad. I may have to order one.

just an FYI a 19 row koyo oil cooler is 140 bucks. at that price you can probably put together a front mounted oil cooler kit for just a tad over $200 all in, which in my opinion is more value per dollar than trying to vent things. i really just think the stock cooler is not very efficient.

A bit more involved, but would be even better.

I already have an upgraded oil cooler. My assumption is that most on this thread do as well but I could be wrong.

I had the B&M kit from MAP. Unless there is a problem with my OFH (could be, I haven't been back on track), it was even worse. I looked down to see temps up to 295* , so had to back off. This was during an overcast day, after some rain. It was far from hot. I put a new OEM one on, instead. We'll see how it goes.

A front-mount and building a cooler for my trans are on my list of "things to do".

B&M coolers are junk, I wouldn't be surprised if stock works better. Setrab or bust when buying an aftermarket oil cooler.

Assuming I have normal temps now, I'm inclined to agree LOL. The B&M was very flimsy and felt cheap, IMO. The OEM seems to be of much better quality.

Yeah the one I have is Setrab. I had compared the various "kits" that were available from the time from AMS, MAP, Greddy STM etc. and at the time, MAP was the only one that would say who made their cooler core. It's actually about $100 cheaper now than it was in 2011ish when I bought it

I personally wouldn't be too worried about 250 degree oil temps on track from an oil breakdown standpoint. My stock BMW 135i runs 240-250F just in normal street driving even in 60-70 degree ambient temps. Comparing notes with other BMW N55 engine owners, that's normal.

If my temps were holding at 250*, I wouldn't have had to make a thread.

Just curious how the oil temp compares to the engine temp recorded via the ECU (via an AIMS Solo data logger). I was out on a particularly hot day and the temp started out at about 180. Normally when I'm pushing the car on a warm day, the temp settles in the 220s. Yesterday it went up into the 240s and I got an engine over heating warning. Where is this temperature coming from and would it be worth it to see this temp in real time?

I'd kill to run those temps. What do you have for cooling??
