evo 9 hillclimb build log
Some times I walk past this and think how happy 22 year old me would be with 44 year old me.
and sometimes I get depressed with how much money I’ve wasted on Japanese econoboxes
depends on the day

I somewhat know the feeling. I own 2 evo’s now and it’s a dream but a money pit at the same time.
can’t have it all they say ! Lol
Is that 4 evo 9s? Lol congrats man. Your 22 year old self would be very proud I’m sure lol

yup - four evo 9’s (bottom left is a wagon). Plus the one in the post above for 5 total.
congrats on two. Be careful if you get a bigger shop because they’ll start to multiply!

finally got insurance on this so the motivation came back to get the Evo ready for some summer drives.
Threw some ohlins DFV with soft spring rates and MR wheels off of another evo.
Revised the ride height about an inch as well. I think it looks so much better.
taking it in tomorrow to get:
timing belt
water pump
Oils changed
pump gas tune - nothing crazy it’ll still be stock injectors and intake.
Later in the week it’ll get aligned.

it at a shop as we speak
The emtron was installed and that tuner was driving it around town to work on drivability before the dyno session. He said it was very “spicy”. The emtron quit working and ultimately shorted out and fried the ECU. It had to get shipped back to Australia to get repaired. They’re thinking it was something in the wiring of the car that shorted the ECU. Not sure how that would happen or it I agree but it has a stock ECU back in and it’s at the shop in town that tunes those. There are a lot of little scabby things that needs fixed so he’s working on it between jobs. Hoping to have it back running soon but I haven’t been pressuring him (too much) haha.
word to the wise - be careful buy a car that was once one of those FB raffles - they can have some sketchy stuff hidden in side.

Man those FB raffles are scammy as hell. I sold my old 5g Civic hatch and it ended up in one of those raffles, then another, then another, I think it went through like 5 different ones. Idk what happened to the car now, if it even exists. This all in the last 6 years lol
