Took the car to ORP this last weekend for a track day.
MFT Solutions worked on the shifting tuning a while back and this was the first time we could try it out. It was amazing before and it’s amazing’er now. Very small amount of pop - just quiet and crisp no lift shifting!
my dad had his first track day. He got a new z06 and it is so much fun. The evo is much, much faster but there is something about driving a car 300 miles to a track, putting down one of the fastest times of the day, then driving back home.

That's awesome.
The new Z06 is impressive. 670HP and under 3700 lbs, reliable and track ready right off the showroom floor.
Also impressive that your Evo is much faster. You sure your dad wasn't just going easy on you?
Carl is a proper wheel man on track. Dude can drive so cant discount that fact when comparing anything.

My dad’s old school - taking easy on his kid isn in his mindset. But it was his first time on a track. He’s raced dirt bikes and snowmobiles so he’s got a baseline but throwing around a six figure 600+hp car is still and acquired taste!
the Evo weights under 2,700 lbs, has 315 Hoosiers, and 590 whp. It beats gt3 cars so a stock z06 isn’t too tough
we’ve messed with aluminum exhausts for a few years with varying levels of success as shown above.
It’s not welded up yet but I did move the car to the other end of the shop and it sounds much quieter and less “tinny”. Super excited to get it on the track in the spring and see how it sounds at WOT

I’m admittedly not super smart so I figured why not pick up another evo.
a buddy won this in a raffle and wanted to unload it. We ended up working out a deal that was good for both of us.
the idea with this car is to have a winter heater evo.
I’ve never driven an evo in the snow. My first white evo was always too nice to take out in the snow, the hills climb car and phou’s car are on SSB suspension and low - they won’t be fun in the snow and I’d be too nervous for hitting a curb or what not.
the winter beater is not in great shape, but clean enough that it’ll be enjoyable to have for DD’ing.
it has a built 2.4L (with AC!) and came with s3 cams and a stock evo 9 turbo.
the plans with this car:
swap stock suspension
s2
Artec mani
artec downpipe
g25-550 turbo
new timing/waterpump
stock wheels (selling volks to reduce $$$ in car)
g25 in place. Working on the exhaust now
