I'm not sure the RE71r is the right tire for an Evo. We are pretty tire abusive and seems like the Rival S handles that a bit better.

Though the pony cars seem to be doing really well on the B.stones and cant imagine their too much easier so...

I've only been on them for a two events. I noticed an immediate difference over the ZII's. But I also know they won't last as long as the ZII's either.

So I was all excited when I was told they were coming out with a 285/30 but now Im wondering if that may be a mistake. From what Im told by friends they are significantly faster than the ZII SS's which I have now good for at least a second on a 60 second course. But if Rivals are a better fit for our heavy cars then I may need to explore that route and possibly a 315...my rear quarters already look like sh*t so how much worse can they get, lol

I wonder how much wider a 315 Rival S is vs a 285 ZII SS. And something tells me a 315 on a 10.5" wheel will be too pinched.

We'll see. My first full day should be in the middle of summer LOL. I still think I'll be going back to the Hankook.

A couple guys I know tried the BFGs for AX and weren't particularly happy as they were being beaten by people on RE71s. The b-stone sounds like an awesome AX tire. My main concern is road course, though. We'll see if they fall off quickly like Sean is saying.

I struggle to keep them from falling off during local autocross events. Even with heavy spraying in between runs, they're much slower after the 3rd or 4th time the car goes out on course. Keeping them from falling off is near impossible if I have a codriver.

I'm going to bring ice for my sprayer water this weekend, but I'm not sure that's going to help much.

I plan to do an AX in a few weeks and it'll be super hot. Should be fun because i don't mess with tire pressures, watering them down, etc. LOL

More or less EVERY fast driver in my region (NNJR) uses the Bridgestones. From miatas to vettes. I started a discussion on our local page as to which tires to use and I was nearly blasted for considering something else.

However, no feedback from the Evo's as most of them are using hoosiers or another full slick.

I wouldn't mind going out there to drive, just once. If it's anything like the time i went to watch, it would suit my car pretty well.

Hey man, I'm NNJR as well and have been on RE71's since August of last season. They are phenomenal at the Meadowlands... actually they are pretty much awesome everywhere. I haven't experienced them fall off much at AX (or track for that matter) as others who posted here except when I over-drive the car and get them excessively hot. With that said I've found that they actually like the heat, I've tried wetting them down on several occasions and they dont seem to like it. As for wear, they wear super fast! I'm at 3 track days and 15-16 autoX with only driving to and from events (total of about 3k miles) and they are pretty bald, not down to the cords but looking like if I'm lucky I can get 1 more track day or like 4-5 AX's. Even with all the wear these tire still grip strong and handle great. Bottom line is that I would DEF recommend and will be ordering a new set shortly... I'm just torn between 275 or 285, I do rev out at the meadowlands with my 265's so 285's may make it worse. If only they made a 295/30 all would be good in the world!

Now that you mention it, I'm curious of how stiffly sprung the guys are that are having problems. Sway bars, as well. My car is relatively soft compared to most of what I see posted on the forums.
I'm also curious of driving style.
I've never really had tires get greasy.

If it helps at all I'm on revalved Bilsteins w/Swift Spec R springs and both sway bars (Hotchkis) front to full stiff and rear to middle. The car is actually pretty stiff. So much so I don't really like driving it on the street (getting back in my Jeep feels like a vacation sometimes- Haha!) In terms of driving style I think Im more on the aggressive side, I tend to push the car till the point I'm over-driving then back off. Fwiw I've really only felt greasiness on the track. Wetting the tires at AX felt (to me anyway) that it made them get a bit squirlier (< is that even a word?) which wasn't fun....or faster.

Hm. I'm on 9kF/10kR springs, stock front sway, and Robispec rear set to next-to-softest setting. I may be leaving some grip on the table, but I don't think I push the tires close enough to the limit that I would notice. I never have to spray at AX and , like I said, have yet to get a full session on the road course, so I'll wait to report on that.
Car works amazingly for our super small and tight AX courses. Well....it did before I swapped a larger turbo LOL. Not bad considering it's not built for that.

I don't know if they like too much heat. I'm not saying what you're reporting is wrong. but from what my car does, they grip falls noticeably when it's hot out and I'm pushing it hard. I find spraying between runs also actually helps. IMO
