Define back and fourth. There's 3 directions you can go back and forth.

Motec vs Haltech, go!

AEM is bust with their latest announcement for me so its Motec or Haltech and M130 vs M150 vs 1500 vs 2500... Too many options!

Dallas, what went sideways with AEM?
Seems to be a nice plug-n-play solution to Evo 9, local company, impression I have is solid product.

AEM announced something about no longer revising any of their current ECUs and the lastest versions is all you get.

But the deeper details that came out were along the lines of AEM stiffed the guys who made them and they wont sell or support AEM anymore. Some heresay, some AEM published info there. But I dont really want to learn AEM if its not something Id ever use in the future on another car. Seems to make sense to look at something that will be around tomorrow.

Maybe someone else has more info?

Your question is answered.

You know what my answer is. Haltech is plug n play and hands down the most user friendly system. There really isn't anything you can't do with it and their software is super easy to navigate and it's laid out in an intuitive manner. Also, their online community forum and customer support is fantastic, there's hardly an issue you can have that someone hasn't already run into before.

Hah, and this is why its a hard choice. ER loves motec but says Haltech is pretty good too. On top of that, Myles like the M150 cause of the extra inputs. Specs on it also give 3 CAN channels instead of 1 in the M130 which probably will be usefull for any future things I might want and talking with racecapture.

Does Motec not have easy CAN expansion capabilities? The Elite stuff has 2 CAN channels and can be expanded as much as you want with their 4 port expansion modules.

Last time I looked, it made more sense to get an M150 from the start rather than trying to get an M130 and add an expander later, unless you really needed 100% of the extra inputs on the expander.

Looking at the usability and price I'm leaning towards Haltech. Looks like the 1500 is totally fine and 2500 is just for > 4cyl. And $1600 list before any discounts is much easier to swallow than the 4-5k to setup Motec.

For what Im doing the only benefit I can see would be built in ACD control potential but the price difference I could always add the Motec ACD controller later. Am I missing something?

You have to add a Wideband controller to the haltech. And you kind of need the 2500 for the extra pins for a 9.

No you don't. Mike P runs his DBW mivec 9 on a 1500. The extra outputs are just for Ign and fuel.
