NOOB question regarding brake fluid flush

When flushing your brake fluid, how much are you guys putting through to each corner? I fee like I'm definitely on overkill mode here, base on my approximation of fluid volume in the each line. This stuff is expensive and I don't feel like pushing 500ml through each corner "just to be on the safe side". No, I don't really use 2L of fluid. Just being facetious.

Since the fluid coming out is just as clear as what's going in (Thanks, Gov't), how do you know?

If it's that clear still, why are you flushing it vs just doing a bleed?

I usually suck out the reservoir with my vacuum bleeder, fill with fresh fluid, then bleed it enough to where I think all the old fluid is out.

You should be able to tell once you've got fresh fluid coming through. When I flush or bleed I suck out whats in the reservoir then fill with fresh fluid and go to town. It wont always come out really dark but should be a little bit darker such that you can tell once you have fresh fluid coming out. If you cant tell a color change then the fluid unless has been sitting for a while is probably fresh enough that all youre trying to do is get out an potential air pockets.

The car's been sitting with the same brake fluid in it for over a year. Most recommendations I've seen are to put in fresh fluid on an annual basis. I was led to believe the fluid may have absorbed enough water now to boil over at inopportune moments.

Well ya if it's been that long for the reason stated, do the full flush. I always do it annually even though the Endless guys say it's not needed. ~5 second bleed between events, 10-20 seconds depending on which corner annually with a power bleeder.

I think because it had some compliance. The metal one just has no "give" and Motive seems to have made it with very tight tolerances. It has to be air tight, and I get that, but damn. It takes me a few minutes to get the thing on right

After running the rears for good 20 to 30 seconds and the fronts for 10 to 20 seconds it seems I will go through 16oz., One bottle. Does that sound right?

** Edit: I ended up topping off a bit more from another bottle, warm fuzzy feeling: I could see a slight difference in coloration. The old stuff was slightly darker. Score!

With my motive I do 20 seconds each caliper in sequence two or three times. I bleed until the fluid is the same color as the whats in the bottle.
