Technically, your preload is your ride height adjustment. If you're setting ride height with a threaded body and threaded shock tube your droop and compression length are likely not where they should be.

Looks like I will sacrifice another pair of fender liners adding 9mm outward I got the wheels last week btw
QQ guys, is 800# front / 900# rear too much spring for track? should I really consider lowering the rates? several folks adviced I should have softer springs combo for track, including the good guys from FA

Lol FA makes a good product but I don't trust anything they say after my experience dealing with them. People are always quick to throw around spring rate numbers for chassis they're not intimately familiar with or without asking exactly what's all done to the car and those are the people whose advice you should take with a grain of salt.

FWIW I used to run 550/700 and I found it too soft. I'm moving to 800/1000 now. I'll also be on a full spherical suspension so i lose wheel rate not having bushing rates. I'd stick with what you've got and adjust from there after you've driven it. It may not be ideal, or it may be just right for you, but it certainly won't be unsafe.

I run 700/900 on the race car but that's with hella aero and 295 hoosiers. Handles like a dream. On the X project I'm doing 500 front 700 rear because it's a full weight streety on a052's doing a couple tracks a year if I hang onto it long enough. Much more then that is AX duty or dedicated track setups. There's several key turns at RA where the car needs to "squat" and not slide.

I run 12/18 and did a HPDE event earlier this year and the car felt great. However, I am on SSB uprights and that seems to help quite a bit with running high spring rate in the rear. The car feels less twitchy and more stable.

Yeah, RSB on hard was a bit loose and worrisome when you have to swerve wide before turning the opposite direction. it quickly got sorted when i adjusted to full soft. #800 is where i got rid of wheel lift (autox) and I didnt feel any of the wheel lifts on track. I like the added bonus of not worrying about bottoming out when you go over raised curbs and a crest-dip-turn element on our local track. steering wheel feels uber light but I got used to it
Hopefully I dont learn the hard way that "your springs are too stiff". I definitely wont be running them when its damp out I tried 1100# rear springs, you can have mine lol

I got that from another respected driver, it sounded like he stays below 11k/13k without aero and 220tw spec tires on his sti. I'll definitely reassess when the FA510s are on the car. Softer front springs might give me better confidence for turning in. I have to find time and get a feel for those 220tw tires

you're probably 3wheeling when you WOT mid turn I could probably avoid 3wheeling my current setup if I improve, carrying more speed on turns using more of the pavement, instead of lining up for the earliest WOT (like an autox'er)

I was about to get tires. I just noticed the tire spec sheet on DiscountTire show 0.5" wider RIM WIDTH RANGE, than what's on Tirerack website

A052 295/30/18 rim width range is up to 11.5" (+0.5")
RT660 285/30/18 rim width range is up to 11" (+0.5")

I guess I'm back to RT660

Yokohoma's official website shows a 10.0-11.0 recommended rim width for the 295/30R18.

EDIT:

It shows that the 295/ 30 /18 (not 35) is in stock at tirerack....

I would only recommend the 30 series profile for the Evo 8/9 as it's aleady a tight fit up front. A 35 series will be even tougher to fit.
