Have you changed the tranny fluid ? And what is done to it and have you anything done to it lately?

Go to autozone and get the code pulled. If it something non-important it can easily be tuned out. I have turned off my p0300, EGR, and rear o2 sensor with out using a resistor with no cel now. If it is something serious you will want to know.( It sounds like nothing though)

Probably P0300.... most of the time the check engine light on an 8/9 is nothing to worry about if the car is running fine.

You can pull the code at autozone and post the code, or go come evodynamics if you are in DFW, and we can shut it off, and check to see that nothing is serious is going on.

P0300 is a standard code for evos it is "Random Misfire" which means the something didnt go exactly perfect on a spark so it throws a code... nothing to worry about at all. We can turn it and most of the other pointless codes off so you dont get them anymore.

My check engine light was on for a long time on my evo 8 but it ran fine, and they cleared the code many times but it came back on eventually, i got new spark plugs and a new coil pack and it went away

Having KevinD turn it off would be the easiest option unless you are familiar with your ecu. Look into the mapping periphery bits in the ecuflash section.

disabling the EGR isn't a good thing for a daily driven car. you will get worse gas mileage. the one benefit of eliminating it is that it keeps the intake manifold cleaner from the exhaust gases not coming in. its very easy to fix that code, and even if you don't do anything about it, its not going to hurt anything.
