Fuel pump install

Quick few questions about installing a fuel pump...

My main mechanic is out of town and I was going to tackle some basic installs while hes gone.

Is the evo x fuel pump under the seat or in the trunk?
What tools are needed to do this?
Ive done this in subarus a few times....is it the same premise?

Thanks for the help guys =)

PS I did search for a how to with no avail

uh... maybe posting in the general section will net you more traffic.

If you're going E85 you need to replace that line anyway. We used some E85 submersible hose. All of the full kits come with a new hose for that line.

You are going to have to rig something to keep the pump in place. The kits all come with some ring adapter to hold the pump into the housing.

Good info....Im going to Austin Performance first thing tomorrow to grab some hose and I think Im going to replace both of the plastic lines. I think I am going to Ziptie the fuelpump hose to the metal support next to it.

How do you feel about the stock filter? Should it be replaced?

Dude you didn't read up.

There are two stock filters. One is the sock. If you're going E85 you have to replace it with an 8/9 one since the X one gets eaten by E85.

The other filter is IN the stock pump, so you need to install a new outboard filter. Typically that's done under the hood and you need special connectors to do it (see my E85 thread to find where to get them).

Now you know why most people get a blaqops kit... I didn't and my (and rfielder's) life was harder for it.

ETA: zip ties and fuel? Sure it'll work... E85 will definitely eat it... but that's pretty ghetto and unsafe (and I use zipties for EVERYTHING).
